“Convenient for a flight from JFK, but not for visiting New York”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

The JFK Hilton has a very convenient connection to the airport. Upon arrival, their free shuttle bus will pick you up at the Federal Circle, for your departure it will set you off at your terminal. However, going to the city from there is not so easy. If you use the shuttle, you have to pay at least five dollars for the AirTrain, and it will take you about 45 minutes by subway to reach the city (42nd Street). A late night taxi back to the hotel will cost you 75 dollars.

The reception of the hotel is friendly and competent, as is all of their staff. The rooms are spacious by New York City standards, the bedding is very good, you have a minibar, complimentary coffee and tea in your room. The facilities of the hotel are more modest. There is a small swimming pool (about 9 m long) and a fitness room, but there is no room to change your clothes and no lockers. The Executive lounge is open only a few hours for breakfast and in the evening. There are a few tidbits to eat, soft drinks, and they will serve you wine. Drinks like whisky and cocktails are available at a charge. The lobby restaurant serves good food, but you wouldn’t go there from elsewhere on an evening out.

All in all, a friendly hotel giving you a good night’s sleep next to the airport. When considering it for a stay in New York, you have to take into account the time and expense of getting into the city.

Thank you for the favorable review.
Your certainly correct about the hotels convenient location to JFK and the quiet rooms. The hotel has all the amenities of a New York full-service hotel except for being in the heart of Manhattan. I'm glad to know you experienced the Executive Lounge....in additon to the wine, we also offer complimentary beer in the evening.
All the best and looking forward to your return visit.

This is a nice hotel with good service and nice rooms. The location is pretty good and for a few dollars you can take the bus (located in front of the hotel) to the subway and play downtown all day. The breakfast was just ok, but the price was very expensive. Everything was extra in this hotel when the sister hotel (next door) has free wifi and free breakfast for $40 less per day! I do have to complement the management as I had numerous issues with my door lock over several days and the management was very understanding, receptive and moved heaven and earth to make things right.

Derek,
Hope you made it home safe.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience.....I'm glad to know that the Hilton JFK Team did their sincere best to make your stay an enjoyable one. I do apologize for any inconveniences and I'm truly sorry regarding the door lock issue. Although our neighboring Hampton Inn offers better value, the Hilton JFK features all the amenities expected from a full-service hotel; restaurant, bar, executive lounge, saltwater pool, 24 hour fitness center and shuttle service.
Hope to see you back in the near future and best wishes for a joyous 2014!!!

Hilton JFK Jamiaca Newy York.
Great hotel nice staff. Room and view requested got it. Hotel atmosphere was great. Dana awesome bartender, Errol great customer service representative on arrival and departure. The only problem was the noise from the heating system, they made every effort to fix the problem I thank them for that. Heated pool was not working each time I tried to use the service. All in all my 9 day visit was very good I would stay at this hotel again.

This review is about Dana, the bartender in the Hilton lounge. Dana was such a fantastic resource for me when I realized that I booked my Hilton stay unknowingly, through a 3rd party. After a horrendous day of travel and getting stuck at JFK due to a cancelled flight, I booked a hotel at the Hilton and upon arrival learned that they had been sold out. Note- do not book through a 3rd party if possible! When I realized I didn't have a place to stay, I propped myself up at the bar to plug in my laptop and have a breather, Dana, was genuinely concerned that I was put out for the night. She walked me down the hall to the hotel next door (Hampton Inn) and made sure that I had a place to stay. She was the kindest, most customer service focused bartender I think I've ever encountered. I am so thankful for you Dana!!!!

Yes, I can't agree more. Dana is certainly a dedicated Team Member that knows how to make a guest feel at home. She understands the needs of the guest and takes sincere pride in resolving any request. I'm glad she was able to secure a room at our neighboring Hampton Inn and hopefully on your return visit, you can stay with us.
Thank you and all the best for a safe and healthy New Year!

$179 a night and HHonors Gold gets you a standard room, no upgrade. Went to Executive Lounge for advertised breakfast (which is posted to start at 0600 on weekdays) and found the lounge dark with no food out at 0620. As for the room, clean but nothing special, furniture was pretty beat up. There are better choices.

If you have an early flight in JFK this is a good choice. It is located 5 minutes from the terminals and easy to reach by taxi. Hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service every 30 minutes 24/24.
Rooms are nice with only a problem: air conditioning is really noisy and I had to switch it off (in the summer this could be an issue).
There's a good restaurant inside.
