I decided to stay at the hotel for one night between flights.

Checkin was friendly but not really professional. The room was spotless clean, well appointed but very small. I liked the quality of the amenities in the bathroom. The little shop next to the lobby had a very limited choice, only a few things to heat up in the microwave, no sandwiches. They only have room service from 5pm for a few hours. The American Grill in the hotel doesn't really look like a restaurant, but more like a breakfast room, not really cosy. So I decided not to have dinner there and go to Manhattan.

The airport shuttle leaves every 30 minutes and was on time, although no airco, the bus was boiling hot. I was almost cooked when I arrived at the airport, not really interesting, I don't like to board a plane sweaty.

The hotel was ok for one night, although I was glad I booked with points and didn't had to pay the 200-300$ rate, that would have been a dissapointment for the limited comfort.

Stayed at this hotel on business when I had to spend a couple of days interviewing freight forwarders at Kennedy Airport. The hotel was ideal for this assignment. It is very close to JFK but also conveniently placed for Jamaica Station and the Long Island Railroad into Penn Station.

Facilities are fairly rudimentary but the staff are obliging, friendly and helpful and the rooms are as good as many a 4 or 5 star hotel I have stayed in. Internet access - both wireless and 'connected' - is free. There is a small swimming pool and a gym area.

Breakfasts are adequate - plenty of orange juice and hot coffee - but the cooked to order omelette I had was not the lightest/fluffiest - to say the least. The hotel lacks a proper bar (you order your drinks in the small eating area). For me this is a shame.

However the hotel is conveniently placed, the rates are resasonable and the smiles are genuine. I was pleasantly surprised.

For an airport hotel, this is perfectly average. The room is small, but clean. It's quiet even though you're right next to the highway. It's main attraction is that it's only 5 minutes away from the airport, but we had to wait for 40 min for the shuttle to show up. This may have been due to a traffic accident, but the passengers who phoned the hotel weren't told this was the situation. Since there was a long wait, the shuttle was packed and hence the long wait to check in.

This JFK hotel is way overpriced for a Hilton Garden Inn.
The staff is not that friendly. Pluses are the shuttle to the airport and the on site restaurant. Pool in Aug is full of screeming kids.. not recomended if you think you're going to unwind at the pool before your next flight.

We stayed twice at the HGI during our recent holiday before catching departing flights out of JFK. The room was very comfortable with a writing desk, easy chair, fridge, microwave and coffe making equipment. The bathroom clean with three large bath towels provided and decent quality shampoo and soap. The choice of pillows was nice and the bed pretty comfortable as well. Free internet was a plus as well as the use of the small business center to print out some much needed directions. Check in and out was easy and quick. The front desk personal was very helpful regarding a few questions we had. A very kind employee helped us out with our six, yes six pieces of luggage we were traveling with. We did not eat in the restaurant, so I can't comment on that part of the hotel. All in all a good experience and perfect for our short stays.

  • Liked — Close to the aiport, but still pretty quiet considering the location
  • Disliked — You could hear the people in the next room
