“Could of been worse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Only stayed one night.
Staff was friendly. Like that it had a friendly little bar attached. Also a restaurant that we did not try.
Pillows were gross. Beds were ok.
No secondary lock on door to room.
Liked that Wegmans was very close.

Nothing fancy that's for sure. Friendly staff. Clean room, comfortable bed. Old style TV but it worked just fine and since we aren't much for watching TV that was quite okay. Large room. Liked that you could actually open a window and get some fresh air. Microwave and fridge saved us money and nice after a long day out to just have a snack in the room.

Could use a few small touches in the toiletries department - got shampoo but no conditioner. Real glasses instead of the thin flimsy plastic glass that cracks if you look at it the wrong way. Really need some new pillows - putting two together almost made one good one. Bed was comfortable and we both slept well.

Continental breakfast really isn't continental. It's bagels or english muffins with cream cheese/jam and I'd advise get there early. We got down around 9:30 and the juice was gone, coffee out and only plain bagels left but there was evidence of other types from the empty bags.

All in all - it suited our needs well. Comfortable, roomy, clean, everything worked like it should, free wireless, lots of parking, friendly staff and reasonable price.

We prefer non-corporate but Meadow Court Inn is an example of why people choose corporate over the inconsistency of Mom &Pop type places. It feels cheap and dirty and maintenance issues abound. There is a lot of deferred maintenance, the Formica was falling apart in the bathroom, holes in the walls of the two rooms we rented etc. In rereading the previous reviews I notice that in the past month the reviews suggest this place is going downhill fast. I made my reservations when the reviews were better. We discussed finding another hotel and just losing our $100/room that is how disgusted we were. That said, we slept well, a noisy party next door at 1am were loud but luckily did not stay long, had they it would of been awful because I could hear every word spoken...and I am hard of hearing! We definitely would of not stayed two nights but in worst case scenarios the bed was decent.

The room and hall way is smelly
The pillow does not look like changed at all, one of the pillow even have hairs and dirty water mark on it.

Asked the front desk to change, she needs to come to the room to check and then can make the change. However, she is the only one at the front desk, so she can not leave the front desk to check and make the change to the pillow.

What else can you expect from this?

Room Tip: avoid this. smelly room and worst service

Given the price and having read the reviews, I was prepared for the worst but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel desk staff were friendly and provided helpful location information. I stayed in a newer part of the motel which had been upgraded, so the room was very clean and a good size. It came with a refrigerator and microwave which was so convenient considering there is a grocery store across the street. The temperature controls worked well and the room was comfortable. My only complaint was that the comforters and rug were very hideous but all in all, not a lot to complain about. I would recommend this motel for a brief 1 or 2 night stay.

Room Tip: Rooms in the renovated section of the hotel are much better

After forty plus years of business and pleasure travel, I have found possibly the worst motel (not used for hourly commerce) on three continents. Fleabag is too kind (though somewhat descriptive of its permanent residents).

This is a classic 50’s/60’s motel build like so many others of that era – boring but serviceable. Most of the remaining motels from that era (not bulldozed for parking lots or strip malls) are at least maintained to some standard of cleanliness and in reasonable repair.

The adventure begins when you walk into your room; you are greeted with a musty odor only to be enhanced when you turn on the air-conditioning. Which itself, has the whine of a 747 preparing for takeoff (if you live near the approach to a major city airport, you’ll sleep like a baby, if not…). If you make the mistake of looking at the carpet (of indeterminable color, due, most likely, to the fact that it was last cleaned when Eisenhower was in office) you won’t take your shoes off for fear that the various stains might be toxic.

The wallpaper is peeling in several places adding to the ambience and fitting right in with the 50’s era blond furniture and clothing rod affixed to the closet area with duct tape at one end.

In the bathroom, the concession to the 70’s is a hair dryer - but par for the course, hung on the wall 30 degrees off center. After a few seconds of running the cold-water tap, you get hot water (no the taps aren‘t reversed – figure that one out). The showerhead is a concession to the 80’s – a massage head that dribbles the water out at about two gallons per hour… not quite fast enough to wash away the bug crawling out of the drain.

The bed is soft and somewhat comfortable… as long as you don’t move and get the bed pad rumpled. If you roll around at all – good luck. Speaking of the bed, it’s not your imagination; that was a bug that crawled over you in the middle of the night. If you are squeamish, don’t look at the 1½-inch millipede on the headboard in the morning.

So enjoy your stay… and keep looking over your shoulder (or around the shower curtain) for Norman Bates! At least the Bates motel was clean and in comparison would have received a 4-Star rating from Expedia or Travelocity.

Room Tip: Find a room in another motel!
