“Not impressed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

Pros: lots of free parking. Upstairs unit is big and has kitchen (But we never use a kitchen in a B&B so not sure of the value)
Cons: View from the top of the hill are not bad but commuting up and down the hill to get to town burns some serious gas.
No breakfast but rate is discounted for this. I didn't think enough.
Upstairs unit no good in hot weather as there is only one little over-whelmed window unit in the BR. The SE-facing upstairs unit was ready to Spontaneously combust in 90 degree weather.

Nice location, only 2 miles out of town (all up hill). The Inn is beautiful, very cozy. We believe we had a visit from a friendly ghost :) No other reason for a latched door to open in the night. And not once but twice during the night.

City Lights is a great B&B and is obviously loved & cared for by Colleen. She adores her garden & the whole place was filled with beautiful flowers she had picked. We had the Studio which was just perfect .. We could come & go as we pleased, all Colleen asked was that we turned off the outside light so she knew we were in...it felt like she was looking after us! She gave us loads of tips on what to see & where to go....the best being to sit on the side porch & watch the sun go down over the city & see the lights. Once dark she told us to watch for fireflies....Never seen them before so it was just fantastic. Colleen cooked the most perfect breakfast...amazing pancakes!! Great stay, would definitely recommend.

The inn has a simple aspect from outside, but the rooms are gorgeaus and the breakfast also.
What we have like more has been Colleen, the owner, she has been like our private tour guide for discovering Ithaca and the natural attractions around the lake Caguya.
I would definitely come back again from Spain to this accommodation without any doubt.

We had to come to Ithaca for graduation. Colleen the owner, knew that we were traveling late at night and would not be able to get there until after midnight. She had us in a room that had a private entrance so we could come in and not bother anyone. She also had the electric fireplace on when we got there. It was so cozy and we were so exhausted from the 7 hr. drive. Colleen had breakfast for us early so the guests could all make it to the ceremony on time. That night, we looked over the "City Lights" of Ithaca. It was so beautiful. The Inn is so charming and artistic. Distressed furniture, shabby-chic accents, I loved it. Just what I was hoping for. We were so thrilled that we are coming back in July!! So lovely. Colleen was an incredible hostess. Would recommend highly. Brenda Preston :)

In January 2013, I spent another few delightful nights at this great B&B. It has become my favorite place to stay when I visit Ithaca. The rooms are very attractive and clean. If you want breakfast, you get the most delicious meals. Colleen goes out of her way to be helpful with anything I need. She has recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. I have been coming back for many years now, both in the summer and in the winter, and each time, I have been extremely happy with my stay.

We came to City Lights for a staycation during Valentine's and we initially booked The Studio. We were pleasantly surprised when the hosts Colleen and Evan upgraded us to their beautiful Petite Suite before our arrival. We spent two amazing, comfortable nights at the inn and felt completely at home. Colleen and Evan are the best hosts - they are truly amazing people. Since we didn't have a car, Colleen even offered to drop us off at a local restaurant. She is such a caring host. And if you want someone to converse with about anything, just talk to Evan and he will make you smile.
If we get a chance again, we are definitely coming back here!

Room Tip: Get the Petite Suite!
