4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We really enjoy Moosewood. The service was great..you can tell the staff enjoy working there and are there to serve and help.
We had the Avocado with chips as an appy for lunch.. Then the mexican dish. Wifey had the 2 taboli salad and soup which was great.
The mushroom soup rocked.
Get a table outside while its still nice out

“wish they took reservations!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

My wife is a vegetarian, so we had to try the legendary Moosewood while we were in Ithaca. Unfortunately, it seems to always be packed, and they don't take reservations. So, we came up with a better plan. We ordered take-out, which was very quick, and ate it at a picnic table in the waterfront park, 5 minutes away. We had a great picnic, and avoided waiting in line. For a carnivore like me, all of the veggie menu items were very tasty, and they also had salmon, which was delicious.

Highly recommended to try, but in summer, try the picnic approach, rather than waiting in line for a table.

“Waste of good money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

If this was the first time I had been to Moosewood it would have been my last time at Moosewood. What a difference a month makes. In July I had a great meal but on a Monday in August I wasted my money. The Egyptian Lentil soup had great flavors and was a great substitute for the salad. You usually can't go wrong with their soups.
Where they went very wrong was with their pasta and vegan meatballs in marinara sauce. The sauce was so thin that is formed a murky puddle in the bottom of the bowl leaving the pasta practically naked. We expressed our displeasure to the waitress and asked for more sauce hoping it would help - it didn't. She did not seem concerned with our unhappiness. The meatballs were too dry. $16 absolutely wasted on that meal.
We also had the kale, sweet potato, black-eyed pea enchilada. The pineapple salsa was very tangy and clashed with, more than complemented, the entree.
Too sad to stick around for dessert.

“Great Lunch!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

The Moosewood is a destination restaurant for many foodies....we were not disappointed (though it seems like many of the other reviewers were). We ordered three of the daily specials (to share, of course) and enjoyed attentive service in a sunny dining room. There are only 4-5 daily entree offerings, plus soups and desserts so it even with a small group you can taste just about everything available that day.

Food was excellent - flavorful, fresh and tasty. Lunch specials were $10 each (including salad) and the portion sizes were perfect. As our 12 year-old said - "when the food is better, you don't need to eat as much". The staff was knowledgeable and met all of our special requests. We were surprised at the number of alcoholic drinks available, but they are sourcing locally made products from distilleries and wineries and creating cocktails around them.

For a old-time Moosewood experience, hit the farmer's market outside and sample what the locals are making.
