When my husband and I first were dating, we often made meals together from his Moosewood Cookbook. I was so excited to take him there, when I was attending a course at Cornell University and we were in Ithaca together. We had spent the day driving from Boston and arrived, four kids in tow (ages 5 - 13), with ten minutes until closing. We were greeted with a smile and were seated immediately. When informed of our daughter's life-threatening food allergies to peanuts, treenuts, eggs, and soy, the hostess immediately came to our table with a list of every ingredient of every item on the menu. It was reassuring for us to know that they understood the risks of cross-contamination and were knowledgable about food allergies. Our server, Emily (awesome) brought out the children's meals as soon as they were ready, and interacted with them as people. At no time did we ever feel like we were a burden to the staff, like a family of six can feel at some restaurants. The icing on the cake was the quality, portions, and taste of the food. Everyone was pleased with their meal. I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough and cannot wait to return the next time we are in Ithaca.
