“Small, clean, and cozy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

My first time in Ithaca, to take my sister to her second year at Cornell, I stayed at this hotel. It was very clean, and they had great amenities. The only thing I didn't like was that very early in the morning, at around 5 or 6 am, the staff was extremely noisy in the hallway. I don't know what they were doing, but it woke us up. I'd like to stay here again the next time I visit Ithaca.

The Hampton Inn in Ithaca was a delightful surprise. We usually stay at a Holliday Inn or Comfort Suites but as a result of this stay we certainly be looking for a Hampton Inn. Our room was extremely clean and maintain that way through out our stay. The room was well planned and had outlets, including USB outlets for your accessories.

Their breakfast was well provided with eggs, bacon, muffins, bagels, waffles, etc. And the hostess was exceedingly helpful and efficient making sure that all went well and helping those that needed.

This was one of our more enjoyable stays and I will certainly look for other Hampton Inns on future travel.

We came here after a leaving a different Ithaca hotel that was not satisfactory. Our room here was perfect. Clean, cool, quiet, cookies - it was all perfect. The breakfast had a nice mix of cold and hot food -and it was great to see the fresh fruit. Friendly staff who were able to quickly provide directions for a college visit.

First trip to this area to watch a college sports tournament. Hotel located on a major street. Room clean with refrig and microwave. There is a VERY small work out room (one treadmill and one bike) and a pool (not used). Lots of stores, supermarkets etc in the area. Easy to get to colleges. Full breakfast included and was great. They have health food options (fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt) too. Near Cayuga Lake- lovely area. We enjoyed our stay. We ate dinner at Wegman's Supermarket because my tripadvisor app rated it #1 in Ithaca! Not disappointed. Wegman's clean with lots of good food options.

Room Tip: our room was located with view of parking lot- the room was very quiet.

I chose this hotel for a business trip despite its somewhat high price for the area, due to the included "high speed internet". During my stay, the WiFi just happened to be down and no apparent effort was being made to fix it, effectively making it impossible for us to work. This made the entire stay very negative, as the hotel did no provide what it advertised, despite the higher price. Other than that, it is a mediocre Hampton Inn. Lack of WiFi makes this a poor choice for a business trip - will not stay here again.

The Hampton Inn in Ithaca is a great place for families who are bringing students to colleges in Ithaca and the surrounding area. This is the first time that we stayed here, although we also had very positive experiences over the last four years at Hampton Inn up in Cortland, NY. (About 25 minutes outside of Ithaca.)
This Hampton Inn is located a short distance away from Cornell University and Ithaca College. It takes less than ten minutes to get to the Cornell campus from here. The hotel is right in the middle of a main road that has all of the essential stores for buying stuff to start the school year. These include Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Wegmans, etc. There are also restaurants nearby and it's easy to get around. I would say that it is NOT within easy walking distance of the Cornell campus unless you really love walking, but the drive is quick and easy. A car is important here.
The Hampton Ithaca is run very well. The desk staff and other hotel people are friendly, the rooms were nicely furnished and very clean and your stay includes a tasty free breakfast. (Waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels, danish, yogurt, some fruit, etc.) They also have an indoor pool and an exercise room if you're not too burnt out from taking your son or daughter back to school and spending a day unloading!
I know some people make a big deal out of the quality of the beds at Hampton. I didn't think the bed was a big deal and it felt a little bumpy, but it's certainly better than beds that I have encountered in many other hotels.
Overall, you'll be very pleased with this hotel. They make you feel at home and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Try to get the best rate and enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: Some people say it's quieter if you get a room that faces the back, but it's really not nois...

Traveling to Niagara Falls, we dediced to break journey and enjoy the finger lakes area. There were two ladies at check-in, the one who checked us in was not unpleasant, but no smile, not very friendly. The other lady was friendly and helpful - we interacted with her later.

The property has all the standard stuff one expects at a Hampton Inn and some other nice touches. The tub is easy to get in and out of, the shower curtain rod is curved to give one extra room without the shower curtain sticking to one's body. A charging port with two electrical ports and two USB ports lay on one of the bedside tables - very convenient. The bed was comfortable - all as one expects.

We did not utilize the indoor pool which was good sized. The fitness room we checked out but didn't use was not very big, a couple of treadmills, a bike perhaps two. No eliptical.

Breakfast next morning was better than average Hampton Inn fare. Western Cheese Omeletes, Breakfast Potatoes, Cereal, Fruit Cocktail, Apples, Bananas, Waffles, Breads (included English Muffin, Bagesl, Breakfast Pastries). However, coffee was cold - we experienced this the evening before when we checked in as well.

The price was more than what I expect to pay Hampton Inn. But given the high season and the week when students are returning to college, one can understand it.

Overall, a pleasant stay. Would return and recommend.

Ithaca is a nice college town, a nice gateway for finger lakes.

We had dinner at a Thai place, Thai Cuisine, just over a mile away on the main road. The food and service were excellent, reasonably priced.

If you are in the area, going north on the western side of Seneca Lake (rt 14), stop and have lunch at the Glenmore Winery. Spectacular views, good, reasonably priced food, service so-so.

Room Tip: ask for high floor, rooms towards the back of the hotel, although ours were street facing and yet no...
