i was very excited about my two nights at this inn and considered it a treat for myself. it was the rave reviews and personal attention that convinced me to spend $165 (on the low end) a night. i was shown the property with another group of folks checking in. i was in love with my room. unfortunately, there was an annoying leaking faucet in the shower. lynette was kind enough to try to remedy the problem and offered another room when it was not easily fixed. she explained that while she could offer me a room for one night there was no room for me the second night. she offered to help me secure another room at a nearby inn. she indicated that she was short staffed so my check in would be delayed a few hours. i opted to wait out the delay with friends as the common areas in the inn are not air conditioned and it was a miserable hot and humid day in ithaca. the second room while nowhere near as nice as the first (it was on the third floor in an attic like space with little sunlight) it was spacious. i was upset however that evening to discover that the spotlights on the lawn shined directly into my window lighting up the room like a christmas tree. to lynettes credit, she was more than happy to unplug the lights the following evening. yes, as it turned out, the room was available for a second night. on the plus side of my stay, the staff were exemplary!! my room was made up to perfection by the time i finished breakfast. also of note, being a vegetarian who eats little carbs, the chef was happy to sauté vegetables to perfection for my breakfast each morning. the servers attended to my every need. and while lynette was pleasant, she seemed stressed. i can give her that. it can’t be easy to run an inn. i just really expected to be compensated monetarily even ever so slightly at the end of my stay. between the leaky faucet, the room change, the delayed check in and the spotlight shining in the room my stay was not the picture of relaxation. i will mostly likely give the inn another try because sometimes you just need a second chance.
avoid the room called "top of the stairs"
