“Good lunch value in Ithaca”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Firm (not deep fried) tofu; fresh bright crisp veg, good steamed rice, good svg size for lunch. Deep fried veg spring roll was good, mild vegetables, oily. Lunch prices are very reasonable.
Owner (?) stopped to greet every table. 15 or so tables busy, but cleared out after lunch.

“So so Pho”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

We chose this restaurant solely on reviews and were a little disappointed. It was my first Pho experience and based on the reviews my husband and I were expecting some mind blowing food.

What we got was good service and decent food. There was a bit of a wait, but that was to be expected because it was a Saturday at lunchtime. You put your own name and the number of people in your party on the notebook on the counter inside. This wasn't really clear, having never been there before, and we didn't realize it until we saw a group that came in after us write their name.

We ordered the pot stickers for an appetizer, which were tasty and a decent size serving. I had the Pho Ga and the first bite of chicken I ate had a knuckle joint in it, which kind of turned me off and I didn't eat much of the chicken after that. The broth and noodles were good though. My husband had the Tai Bo Vien, which he loved, but ended up not agreeing with him about 30 minutes later.

Overall, the services was good and the food was ok. It hit the spot after a chilly morning of hiking.

“Yummy start to FL weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

First stop on the way to Watkins Glen State Park (from Ct) and a great start to weekend. We had crispy squid, Pho (beef, meatballs), Spicy Szechuan Beef and Spicy black bean and ginger flounder (sauce on the side). I wanted to savor the flounder with and without the sauce and it was fantastic both ways. Additional sauces are provided to spice up the soup/dishes should you want. This was our first visit to a Vietnamese restaurant and we were rewarded to find a gem. Each item exceeded expectation. We arrived Saturday around 1 pm and although there was a short line outside, we were seated within 15 minutes.

“Super-fast, amazingly delicious Vietnamese/SE Asian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The pho is great at Saigon Kitchen, but there are lots of other great options at this always-buzzing SE Asian eatery on Ithaca's West State Street. The fact that we've seen this place completely full (with a wait) at 9:00PM on a Tuesday night is a testament to the quality of the food, as well as the super-fast service.

In addition to the pho, the crispy tofu and roti chicken are excellent choices, and the vermicelli is another enjoyable option with many variations.

“Disappointed in our last dinner..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We had been giving Saigon some good reviews up until our last dinner. The restaurant gets really busy and noisy during the prime dinner hours so we opted to call our order in and pick it up.We had ordered take out before it was fine but this time, not so good. My noodle dish was dry and not the type of noodle (flat rice noodle) as stated on the menu, and it was rather bland for what was supposed be a curry dish. My partners dish was also dry and tasteless. If we were at the restaurant and were served these meals we would have complained. But we were home and hungry so we are expressing our displeasure here.

We have enjoyed Saigon most when went for lunch. It is less crowded and therefore much quieter. Service is better in that you don't feel like your being rushed and the wait staff is more attentive. The restaurant is small and has no waiting area so customers are waiting for a table at the doorway and outside. They are open until 10 PM on the weekend but so are other restaurants in the area.
