Last time we were in Ithaca, we stayed at a Days Inn or such. This time, the prices for less than our standard motels were out of this world, so, we opted for a B&B. We settled on this one because it was close to "downtown" Ithaca and near Ithaca College (where my husband want to school). Also, it offered a lovely view of Cayuga Lake.
The entire experience was very positive, from booking (which was done via phone about six weeks prior) to the room (the smaller suite downstairs with its own bath, private entrance and picture window view of the lake) to the breakfast each morning (highly enjoyable and tasty) to the owner/operator Denice (very, very friendly and helpful).
A few very minor complaints: The closet door in our room was difficult to open and shut, the shelf in the bathroom cabinet came crashing down on my husband when he was putting his toiletries on it, there was not a lot of hot water in the morning (good thing it was summer), the Internet was slow slow slow and didn't work most of the time, and since our room was right off the family room (leading to the kitchen), there was quite a bit of "family" noise (talking, phone ringing, rattling of dishes in the kitchen, etc). BUT, we were not there a lot so the noise was tolerable (and it did quiet down after 10 or so) and it IS an older house, so, that explains some of these minor issues.
Considering our rate per night including breakfast ($125) was cheaper than one of the icky motor inns nearby (which definitely would have had substantially worse rooms and no tasty breakfasts), we thought this was a gem of a place to stay!
Certainly, next time we're back in Ithaca, we'll likely stay here (assuming she's still there; she did say she might be selling).
