We were a group of five, and had a great stay in the Gallery Suite. Initially, there were just four of us, and I booked the 2-bedroom Thunderbird Suite, which looked great on the website. So when a fifth guest decided to join us, I was a bit sorry to switch to the more traditional looking 3-bedroom Gallery Suite. But it far exceeded all of our expectations. First, it is huge - we kept discovering extra rooms, like the little study and the enclosed sunporch. It was extremely comfortable. The "kitchenette" is really an eat-in kitchen, except with a toaster oven and microwave rather than an actual stove or oven. It was great for breakfast. And the furnishings and design of the "suite" (really more like your own private apartment) was a cool mix of traditional, modern and quirky.
The owner (or whoever did the interiors here) has a great eye for design. The design of the check-in lobby and 2nd floor lounge really showcase the bones of this old house in an interesting way. Be sure to have a look. The second floor lounge has an "honor bar" which is a great idea, and would be a great place to hang out. Not that we needed space to hang out, what with the multiple, spacious rooms in our suite.
This Guest House provided an incredibly comfortable place for a group, but I would love to come back and stay in one of the smaller suites, too. It's extremely convenient (walkable) to the many restaurants and interesting shops of Warren Street. Hudson is a great town for interesting historical architecture - I even stole a peek through the windows of the tiny Quaker Meeting House next door to the Guest House.
Our suite had everything we could want, and was very clean, with comfortable beds, great down comforters, nice towels, dishes, etc. (The down comforters did come in handy, since the weather had just started to turn cold at night.) They do not serve breakfast here, but we often book holiday apartments when we travel and really enjoy the space, comfort, and independence they offer. We were delighted to find that at this Guest House. Chris, the owner, was pleasant, and his two dogs very sweet. Thumbs up!
