“Great views, excellent service and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We stayed 2 nights at Zambezi Breezers, in one of the block rooms, which is the cheaper option. All rooms have mosquito nets and beds are comfortable. The view over the Zambezi river is amazing, a great place to wind down.

Zambezi Breezers! What a wonderful place.
We have seen other lodges in Zambia, a lot more luxury, but Zambezi Breezers is unique, because of the personal and fantastic management. Anne Marie is a very nice person and very helpful.
The tents are are very special. They are “breezy” – you can open them to all sides and you can feel a nice breeze (even in November). You can hear all natural sounds at night – munching hippos, birds etc.
We booked with Zambezi Breezers a private boat tour for a half day (5 hours). First we thought 5 hours is too long on a boat, but it was one of our best experiences we had in Zambia.
We saw Elephants (you can’t miss them there), crocodiles, buffalos, a lot of antelopes, lions!, thousands of hippos etc.
Joshua, our guide on the boat, was terrific.
It was one day we will never forget.
If you ever have the chance to visit Zambezi Breezers don’t forget to buy some Biltong.
Andrew makes the best Biltong I have ever tried (and we have been to South Africa several times).
The food generally was very delicious. The best curry we had for a long time.
We had a fantastic time. It is definitely worth its price (it is a lot cheaper than other lodges in Zambia). The tents are very simple, but with a personal touch AND most of the tents have a fantastic view.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a nice view!

Rating Breezers is an issue as its not one of the plethora of 5 star lodges that charge a fortune! Put it this way, value for money, certainly a great deal. Food is excellent and service right up there. Never been out fishing and come back without a fish! There aren't enough places like Breezers in Zambia. Its a great spot!!

We stayed at Zambezi Breezers for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. We drove up there with our own (rental) vehicle so we camped right on the waterfront where we could hear the hippo's and crocs walking around. The bar and restaurant are nice and you can have a drink at the terrace which overlooks the Zambezi river. They arranged a private boat safari for us in the afternoon and we saw many hippo's, crocs and even elephants while having a beer in the afternoon sun. Showers and toilets are clean, bright and big. Definitely the best campsite if you want to enjoy the river.

A bunch of volunteers (i specify this because it was affordable as well) travelled to Lower Zambezi and decided on Breezers for accommodation and I can say we were not let down. We decided on Breezers though some friends said they were bored there but I guess it's more about what one wants from a holiday. Though its an angler friendly place and I can't distinguish one end of the fishing rod from the other, breezers offered us a lovely quiet holiday. Set beautifully on the banks of the Zambezi, its picture perfect staring at the not so populated Zim border. A well equipped bar and great food is ideal for me for a weekend getaway and as much as I like game drives and activities, I didn't miss any of it this weekend. A leisurely cruise down the zambezi, along the Zim & Zam borders, sighting some game was wonderful.

The staff were great and its one of those unhurried places that takes it time to serve food but food so good that its worth the wait! I love that Anne-Marie doesn't set timings for meals but provides different types of food through the day. Overall very enjoyable. Thanks.

This is the only place to stay on the Lower Zambezi for us. We live in Lusaka, so it is close. Phil and Anne Marie have always catered to us, and gone out of their way to make our stay the best. Can't wait to go again.
