“Magical Desert Oasis....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

This was our first visit to Rostock Ritz, but surely not the last one... We were pleasantly surprised by the natural beaty of the place and the friendliness of the staff.. After a long journey through the desert this was a real oasis to quench your thirst.

I recommend this to all visitors to the Namib....

We headed out to Rostock Ritz for the weekend. The roads are not the best but the scenery far outweighs that! Arrive to the lodge to be greeted by friendly hosts and after a cool drink went to our rooms. Very clean, comfortable and small balcony to listen to the animals at the distant mini-watering hole. Reccommend the Kuecki's Garlic steak for dinner!! Delicious! The lodge is a surreal visual and definitely has the Star Wars meets Africa feel about it! Worth a trip! We will definitely be back!

I have been to Rostock Ritz three times. Twice as part of their famous Fly-In in beginning of June. Those weekends are fantastic and the prize extremely good. I know that the standard prize otherwise is higher but this is also a very special place to visit. I have also been here once for lunch. This is the perfect lunch-stop for a drive from Windhoek to Sesriem/Sossusvlei or the opposite way.
I would like to come here once just to stay and relax a few days. It is really a place for "winding down". The surroundings are magnificent and you can sit on the terrace "forever" just looking over the desert and feel your body going into another pace.
Breakfast and dinners have always been excellent, everyone working here is friendly and you really fell like being taken care of. I have only done short walks but there are a big variety of walks and from photos I've seen they are all beautiful. I have been lucky to get a few flights from Rostock Ritz and the area west of Rostock with the Kuiseb Canyon (Sheltering Desert) is "out of the world".
I truly recommend anyone coming here - be it for a nice lunch or for a few days relaxing retreat

Room Tip: All the rooms have good views over the desert and short walks to the restaurant. There is a small di...

We enjoyed a fantastic (and too short) two nights here. The accommodation is comfortable (while there are no air conditioners in the rooms, there are roof fans and good ventilation), the food is fantastic and the views are unmatched. The wine list is good as well, and most of the staff were well-informed and helpful. We took one of the excellently planned and -marked hikes on the property, as well as having a sundowner drive with Kucki's son-in-law. Every single dish we ate, interaction we had or sight we saw, showed management's involvement, training, passion and commitment to this wonderful venue.

Room Tip: Rooms 15 - 20 seem to have the nicest views, but all are excellent.

What a special place to stay! It reminded us of one of the dune planets from Star Wars, older generations might have not so positive connotations, but ... . The view is phenomenal, there is also a waterhole close by where Zebras drink at night. Food and service are superb and Kuecki, the owner, a real character. We liked it so much that we stayed twice! Be sure to make use of the mosquito nets though, they are not for decoration only!!!

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite makes a great family room!

Very cool scenery, super friendly staff and well kept rooms. Ther are several nice trails to hike and a great pool, too. Love the fact that the facility is very eco-friendly, has wi-fi and a very cool restaurant / bar area. It's a perfect place to stay if your going to Sossusvlei from Walfischbucht, Swakopmund or Windhoek.
