We took dhow safari 21/22 May the cook, captain and general guide Rogerio were really good and Rogerio our guide was great, we stayed in the beach cotatge on Benguerra overnight. The 2-mile snorkeling was fantastic and I wished I had the opportunity to spend a lot more of our time there.
I think the one negative was that we were a single couple and in the evening the Dhow crew took over the accommodation (Dining room/lounge/kitchen) - also the vacant bedrooms in the main house - not so great as we were the paying guests and some of the crew insisted on keeping lights on whilst they slept (we switched the lights off but they switched them on again)
There is only visual privacy between bedrooms , so we got very little sleep.- we were not appraised that we would be sharing sleeping accommodation with the dhow staff - certainly not at the price paId. Richard was most helpful and after the trip indicated that he would address the same with the boat staff- hopefully this has been implemented.
Would we do the trip again- yes, in a group but probably not as a couple. I would certainly want to spend a full morning on 2-mile reef and would possibly take FAST speedboat a day trip from the vicinity of Vilanculos to spend min 4-5 hrs on the reef.
