It's impossible to imagine a more perfect riding holiday - wonderful hosts, incredible horses and the most spectacular, unspoilt scenery I've ever seen. I'd 100% recommend this to anyone horsey: families, singles, couples and volunteers. The fact that these people and horses have a heartwarming, courageous story behind them just makes it even more special - I won't spoil it though, you'll have to visit for yourself or read their book coming soon (104 horses).
All the horses are brilliant and Pat has his client's (and horse's) interests and safety as his top priorities so you will never feel unsafe or feel like your horse is unsuitable for your level. There are horses for all abilities and interests; they all have their own little special quirks and personalities. However, they are all brilliantly schooled and so happy. The main difference I noticed - after being used to riding school plodders who had have a few too many children repeatedly kicking and pulling their reins - is that these horses loved their life. They are so well cared for and live how horses should.
Vilanculos itself is so beautiful and gives you a taste of real Africa. The only downside is, it will be difficult to come back home. I mean, as much fun as it is riding through the lovely English countryside, it's not quite cantering along the surf on a pure white beach in 25 degrees watching dolphins in the distance!
You will regret it if you never try it.
