Everyone here goes out of their way to ensure you have a lovely time. Very different - but we took the opportunity to go and visit the local market, fishing village and a local school and church. We ate mainly in the restaurant as the food was so good and the staff were so kind. The lady in the shop sourced a drum maker to make my daughter a drum and the ladies in the beauty area were very good. Special thanks to Lamin in the shop and Arnold.

Room Tip: Lots of African music - nearer to the pool, louder the music :)

My partner and I visited Gambia and Palm Beach late March, early April this year and our experience has been wonderful. The staff and management have been excellent. The reception and the rooms were slightly dated but wonderful. The pool was regularly maintained and the bar and restaurant was great. Excellent local and continental food. Local shops and bars are a few minutes walk but for more choice of eating places you would need a taxi ride of about 3 miles. Taxies are quite cheap but you have to bargain wherever you go. Never pay their asking price. You can discount by up to 80% and still get away with it.
Palm Beach has a sister company-Jewel of India. If you fancy a curry, then this is the place to go.

The hotel as a whole was everything i could have asked for and more. The staff are the friendliest i have come across in my travels. Pool and table tennis was used regularly and the evening entertainment was pleasant.
African Queen did me some nice fish and chips and the chicken curry was lovely.
We did a trip with Aziz the birdman, excellent guide and very informative.

Had a lovely time in The Gambia staying at Palm Beach Hotel, great location beside the beautiful kotu beach. Staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast, lunch and dinners were good.
We did the 4 in 1 tour with Aziz which was brilliant,it is a long day from 8;00am to 5;00pm,but there are plenty of refreshment breaks along the way. You get to see and learn so much and realise how resourceful The Gambian are. The serrekunda market is a complete eye opener. A great day out and throughly recommend.
Over all very nice holiday great winter sun

Room was ok! Good bed, clean, hot shower, towels, cleaned every day, airco, no mosquitos,.. If your a ligth sleeper, bring earplugs because there's this one bird at 7 :p
Staff is very friendly, good food, next to the beach,.. Breakfast is nice! Fruit, toast, pancakes, egg, beans,....

We also visited a school, we had 20 kilo of schoolstuff. Just ask a taxidriver for a school that really needs it and they'll take you! Or ask me and i'll tell you who to contact :)

When I arrived in Gambia it was so nice to see how other people live it was an eye opener. You do get a lot of begging but if you have spare change give it out they need it more then u do.

The hotel was okay the lounge area was clean room is okay it is very tired but you also have to bare in mind where you are as Gambia is very poor.

The cleners do clean the hotel and your room and they are lovely give them a tip they do apprishate it and deserve it.

The pool is small but still nice you will always get a sun bed .. The beach is nice and very long you can go horse riding and if you go to the end you will see jet ski it is cheap and worth it also you will have a lot of people offering you to eat there fresh fruit make sure u look at it and watch them do it so you know it's fresh...

Make sure you get a safe in this hotel just in case for your passport and money and bank cards ..

All the staff work really hard when it's time for you to leave the hotel you see a lot of the staff asking you to have some of your staff and if there's stuff u will never wear again pass it on but just don't make any promises to then because they do come back when it's your time to go home..

Remember nothing is free people can come up to you and give you stuff but u will have to pay for them even if they do not mention it to you make sure you go to a school and visit and homes as it's nice to see how other cultures are living and there have not that much but are soo happy ...

Food in this hotel is okay chicken and chips rice and chicken everything you know .. breakfast is the best out of them all as you get pancakes and the breakfast changes one day ur have omelet another your have boiled egg and so an

Other all this is a lifetime experience and it's an eye opener I did enjoy my self it is in Africa and is a poor country but what you pay for its enuff ..

Entertainment is good at night time and the pool pools are fun you can play your own music to just kick back and relax..
One thing that really bothered me is that you have to pay for your wifi which is a bit of a piss take and it only works in the lounge not in your room the rep is in your hotel but isn't that useful she doesn't do much well mine didn't she was just enjoying her self but to be honest she is not needed you will have a good time regardless ..
