Our plan was to hike a section of the western CT/MA portion of the Appalachian Trail. We went on a whim Thanksgiving weekend with a plan to spend one night. We began looking for a place to stay in the late afternoon and were amazed by the lack of reasonably priced, charming accomodations available. (Important piece: we travel with two dogs and need a place that will accomodate them. We bring a "dog-eared" copy of "The Dog Lovers Companion to New England" with us.) We made the decision to seek out one last place before turning around and going home, and we are so glad that we did.
The room is standard motel fare, but clean as a whistle. A small refridgerator was in the room, which would be great if you were staying longer than the single night we were there. The motel is adjacent to a wonderful restaurant owned by the same couple. We had an outstanding dinner served by two of the most knowledgable and accomodating wait staff that I've experienced anywhere in the US. The meal and service rated five stars.
Snowmaking was going on all night at the ski area next door, but the noise didn't interrupt a good night's sleep. This is an excellent reasonably priced place to spend a night or several when traveling in that beautiful part of the county. An exceptional value.
