“Our favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2010

Coppola's La Fantasia is without question our favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley! Talented chef and owner Nick, consistently prepares the most wonderful, delicious, fresh Italian food of the highest quality!. Whole wheat pasta options are a great plus and the generous bread assortment (including warm garlic bread) that comes with dinner is terrific! We always look forward to eating there...the value is excellent, the staff is professional and friendly and our expectations are always exceeded. We first found them from the Entertainment Book and have been coming back ever since. Don't miss out on their Stracciatella soup...it's amazing! They also have a very nice wine and beer selection (not sure if they have a full bar).

2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2010

Coppola's is a small, nicely decorated Italian restaurant. We went for lunch at 2pm, there was no one else in the place.

We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer, which was good, although the sauce seemed a little watered down. We were given a basket of warm, crisp bread.

Next, we ordered a side salad and a tossed salad, which was topped with marinated vegetables. The tossed salad was good, although I was disappointed that among the marinated olives and red peppers I also found marinated celery, which had an unpleasant taste and consistency. My companion later stated that the erroneously served creamy garlic dressing on her side salad was the best part of her meal.

The presentation of the main courses was atrocious. My scallops in marsala sauce were sparsely arranged on a flat plate in pale brown liquid. The marsala wine was visibly separating from the copious amounts of butter used in the sauce. On the bright side, the scallops were cooked perfectly and were complemented by the thinly sliced mushrooms.

My companion's stuffed shrimp parmesean consisted of three shrimp shrink-wrapped in cheese that looking like plastic in a metal canoe of one inch deep butter. Upon trying to scoop the shrimp out of their nauseating bath and put them on the serving plate underneath, the stuffing quickly fell out and, midair, were returned to the butter bath as the underlying plate was filthy.

Linguini with marinara served on the side was extremely al dente, and smothered in an unpleasant sauce with vague cinnamon or nutmeg undertones. Our second basket of bread was a haphazardly-sliced doughy hoagie that was not worth eating.

We packaged most of the entrees and skipped dessert.

Overall, despite the excellent scallops (minus the butter) and average calamari, this experience was rather disappointing.

“The best marsala sauce ever....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2009

My husband and I went for lunch a couple of months ago and had a very good lunch, veal marsala and the buffet. Not only was the service excellent, but the atmosphere was nice and quiet and the marsala sauce was out of this world...best I ever tasted...and the buffet was fresh and many items to choose from. I highly recommend this restaurant and would hope now that the Walkway Over The Hudson is just around the corner, that visitors will stop here to dine. Prices are excellent, no crowds, no waiting and the homemade red sauce is also for sale as well. You will not be disappointed...

“Excellent”

The food here is consistently good. Whether I order seafood or chicken parmigiana or other dishes, you won't be disappointed. If you are in the area, I recommend you visit it.
