My wife and I drove up from KY for a anniversary party and 80th birthday party. We got to our room after being in the car for 10 hours.
Both my wife and I smoke.
We changed our clothes and went out to get something to eat.
We then returned and went to bed.
The next day/evening was the party.
On Sunday a bill was left on our door for easy check out. Contained on the bill was a charge for smoking in the room. (neither of us had smoked in the room) I contacted the front desk and iquired about the charge. I was informed that we had smoked in the room according to the manager. I asked to speak to the manager. While we were speaking I asked for the charge to be removed. Kara, the manager, laughed and said it was corporate policy so she did not have to remove the charge.
She said she smelled smoke in the room and that was that.
Never mind that our clothes would smell like smoke after being in the car all day.
There is no real process for appealing a dispute. What the manager of the hotels says is what you get. Customer service at corporate said they would investigate but indicated that the individual hotel would have to ok the removal of the charge.
Where is the review process? How do you get your side of the story heard? Very unacceptable.
