Great surprise for us when we stopped for the night on our way to NYC. Beautiful wood paneling on bedroom wall and nice wood furniture in the large room. The staff was very nice and we received vouchers for free full service breakfast. Even let my husband buy some beer the night we arrived at their bar which was closed. Very happy with our stay.

We were passing through this region and needed a place to stay for one night. The rooms were large and very clean. Breakfast came with the room, it was a high cholesterol set of choices but the breakfast room was big and airy and the service fine.

We stayed here last year and enjoyed the large, clean rooms. In between they remodeled the dining room and added an executive chef. Food was superb - everything from simple dinners around $10 to gourmet food. Spent the day playing golf at the very pretty French Woods golf course (40 mile views) then went back to the Hancock House late afternoon to watch a sports event on TV in their cozy bar called Honest Eddy's. We plan to spend another weekend here in the fall and will probably try trout fishing (the fly shop in the hotel lobby said they could organize a guide).

We were very fortunate to get a room there after leaving the Inn at Starlight Lake. I saw pictures of the Hotel online and tried to get a room for our entire stay in the area but they were all booked. We stayed there last night and it was wonderful. The cleanliness and the quality of the rooms are comparable to Marriott's and the Sheraton. The furnishings were very nice and I really liked how the rooms were decorated...the paint colors were soothing and non-hotel like. I loved the down comforters on the beds and the nice linens. I had a great night sleep and if I was in the area again it would be my top choice. It has a restaurant, a bar, and a fly shop.

My husband and i had to make a trip out to South Kortright to see my son. We drove for a bit and ended up here at Hancock House. We were welcomed by a very nice, well dressed young man. Very polite as we chatted about or visit . I do believe the young mans name was Todd. Todd was a very well spoken man who took us to see some of the rooms. We then went back to front desk and registered. He then told us of the bar and the eatery there. He personally took us to the places in the motel. The personal service was wonderful as you don't get that much anymore anywhere.
We had a super time as all the amenities included which was great as we were tired.
and didn't feel like going back out.
If anyone has a negative review of The Hancock Hotel you need to go to some of the places we have been to. We had a wonderful stay, the service was wonderful, rooms were beautiful, Food and drinks were wonderful also. Especially to the front desk as you are greeted with a well dressed young man with a pleasent smile, well spoken, friendly and pleasent manners, HATS OFF TO YOU!!!! To the hotel owners " keep this man" !!!
We will be back another very soon and the Hancock House will be the first place we stop you can be sure of that!

Slim pickings in Hancock! BUT, if you must stay in the area, Hancock House is pretty nice. Much better than most of the gross motels in area! Great location, right in town. Decent bar, restaurant & cafe downstairs. Cozy lodge feeling.

These people think that because they are near certain summer camps, they can treat their guests like garbage. They do not honor reservations and they raised our rate even though we had written confirmations. The hotel is still unfinished. We found holes in walls, missing boards, etc, in both our room and the public spaces. The staff ranges from incompentent to annoying.
