Our first time at this winery was 1976; every time we go back to the Finger Lakes, this is a MUST-DO. One of the best tours (free). Most important is the have-fun attitude of the wine pourers/ tourguides.Tours include the interesting history of the split from Taylor winery. Tastings range from loud & silly for a large group, to chatting with a long-lost friend when you are the only two. For tasting you may choose between a pre-selected list for $5, or $1 an ounce for those you select. This year, since we mentioned we tried making wine this year, we not only got great advice for our next batch, but a recommendation for another winery which sells winemaking supplies and juice. I really like their dry reds, especially Baco Noir ($9), Space Shuttle Red ($9) and Estate Red ($14). I never leave with less than a case.
The views are great, and it is very close to Hammondsport and a couple other good wineries, notably Dr Konstntin Franc, which has another great tasting, but prices are higher (I just buy a couple).
