“Great wines, knowledgeable staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We visited several wineries around Seneca and Keuka Lakes this visit, and Ravines was our favorite. The wines were excellent, and the young man who led our tasting was very knowledgeable and patient. He was able to answer all our questions and was familiar with many other wines, chefs and shops in the area. (The staff at a few Seneca wineries couldn't answer the most basic questions about their own products.) Ravines offers different wine tastings, and we selected both the cheese & wine pairing, and the chocolate & wine pairing. It was a great way to taste the nuances in the wines, and gave us a lot more confidence in our purchases. It was a very enjoyable visit.

“Good but not spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Ravines was the first along our trip, and I liked the complexity of some of their whites; their reds are not one of their strengths (the region is mostly a white-wine region anyway). Tastings were $4 each, but if you have the Passport (see below), it's included. I would recommend stopping, as it is one of the better wineries we went to, but it's certainly not my favorite. I can see them becoming a much stronger winery in the near future.

If you are wine touring, then I recommend you pick up the $12 Passport at one of the winery gift shops. It takes care of the tasting fees for 7 of the main wineries around Keuka for TWO people (although some offer free tastings anyway). It also has discounts to the gift shops, local restaurants, and B&Bs like the Fox Inn where we stayed (see my review).

“fun place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

The gentleman who poured our wines was quite amusing and made our visit most enjoyable. Since we were there for their Viva Italia event we were served a small plate of food - this was a delicious pasta dish with sausage and wine. The recipe was provided as well! Yum!

“Quality wines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Stopped here for a group tasting and had a great time. We had a reservation but somehow it was lost, which luckily was not a problem as no one else was in on this quiet Saturday afternoon while our group was there. The husband and wife couple that worked there were wonderful and helpful, especially when pairing the cheese and chocolates with the wines (which I highly recommend trying out for the extra fee). I believe we all ended up getting atleast 1 bottle which is not surprising as Ravines is consistently one of the better wineries in the Finger Lakes.
