We recently spent a weekend here. The location and views of Shelter Island across the water were wonderful. There is a small sandy (not rocky) beach with a roped-off swimming area and also a wooden deck with lounge chairs. There's also a large swimming pool with a sundeck that has a lifeguard on duty. The single-floor, U-shaped hotel has lovely flowers and greenery around all the building. The desk staff was wonderful. You can tell they take great pride in their hotel and treat it with great care. All of this combined helped me to overlook the fact that the condition of the rooms leaves *much* to be desired. The furniture, walls, etc are decades old and not really comfortable or inviting. But the staff kept it very clean. The rooms came with cable TV, a microwave, pacakges of coffee and a coffee maker. There is a modest breakfast provided, consisting (per person) of a mini box of cereal, a packaged single slice of pound cake, a banana, and a small bottle of milk and of oj.There are also several small cottages on the wooded property available for rent, but we stayed in a room in the main hotel building.
