My friends and I booked this hotel for New year's Eve, as we had an event to attend nearby and didn't wish to drive back home.
The rate was $260, which is pretty reasonable for New year's Eve, however, this was not a 4 star property. The hotel boasts a "lobby bar" which was actually not in the lobby, but at a restaurant that was attached to the hotel. My husband and his friend went there to grab a quick drink while they waited for us girls to get ready. Despite being a restaurant type bar, here were no seats set up at the bar at all and the restaurant was completely empty. My husband and his friend felt awkward standing at an empty bar and didn't want to sit at a table for one drink so it was strange.
We paid extra for a king size "upgraded" room, which was exactly the same size as the room our friends booked for about $50 cheaper. The only thing that was different was the king sized bed. Not worth it.
The room was clean and fine for a one night stay, but nothing outstanding about it.
The bed had a very weird corduroy bedspread and the sheets were a bit scratchy, but fairly comfortable.
Bathroom had a hairdryer (one of the cheap in the wall types) and although I didn't use them, there were a few toiletries available.
The room was actually so hot that we had to turn on the Air-Conditioner. I wouldn't have mentioned it, but I am someone who is often cold, so the hotel had to have been over 75 degrees.
The walls are also paper thin so we were able to hear our friends watching TV and talking in the room next door.
Our windwo only opened about 3 inches and the view was of an apartment building next door.
We ordered a taxi for 7:15 through the front desk when we checked in a 5pm, and then they called us twice to tell us the taxi had arrived a half an hour early. Also odd.
VERY close to the LIRR station, so there is easy access into Manhattan from here. Down the block there is a Dunkin Donuts and a whole strip of shops and restaurants if you don't have a car.
Overall this is a convenient hotel and comfortable for a one or two night stay, but I wouldn't want to spend much time here.
There was supposed to be a continental brekfast included in our room rate, but we didn't see where it was setup or anything and the front desk didn't seem too concerned with making sure we knew about it.
I would check the room rates on other nights of the year, but would consider this to be a 3 star property with few amenities.
