I like trying out new restaurants and different cuisines with my girlfriend and we only return to a restaurant if we have a really good experience, food being central to this. Saffron Lounge has a dozen or more dishes that keep me coming back for more!.. I wouldn't mind so much but its a 15 mile drive from my house! The food is absolutely authentic Punjabi, so lots of herbs, spices and flavours, food that rivals my mum's! The pricing is also very reasonable, with generously portioned curries costing 7-8 pounds. The latest dish I've tried is crispy lamb for starters, unbelievable flavour and taste.my other faves include garlic mushroom, lolipop chicken to name just two. The food is never oily, the quality of ingredients good, cutlery polished with no watermarks, friendly staff, modern environment. Negatives: Their starters menu is very big, maybe too big in terms of number of dishes available and also portions are large, which means I always struggle with mains. I also find their menu slightly daunting and normally ask for recommendations from their staff. Also, paying your bill can take a whilewhen they get busy, (although I admit this is an issue with most restaurants). This is a real bug bear of mine.
Overall, this is probably one of my favourite Indian restaurants in London, highly recommended.
