We had two nights and one day here, which was a good amount of time.
Thatched cottages are set out in the garden behind what was the farmhouse (now the bar/restaurant). Ours was freshly painted with wonderful original paintings on the wall. The cottage had a small kitchen suitable for making sandwiches and tea/coffee, as well as a small lounge area, a separate bedroom and a verandah. The small bathroom has a shower only. The cottages are clean and fresh – not luxurious at all but comfortable enough. Improvements have been made recently, and small things like blankets without massive holes in them could certainly improve the place much more.
Our main problem with this place was the mass of red flies in the bathroom, and the gap between the ceiling and the walls. We had literally 30-40 flies in our bathroom at any one time, plus quite a few around the room. With a gap between the roof and the walls it is impossible to get rid of them. I’m not quite sure why the gap was there – it served no useful purpose except to allow insects to get in. A little bit of netting could easily and quickly solve this problem.
There is a wide range of activities available, both in the national park and on the farm, at very reasonable prices.
A pet zebra roams around the cottages, ostriches have their own little fenced-off area (this is where the zebra is sent to when she’s naughty), horses in the stable are available for riding, and wildebeest tend to shelter from the leopards near the farmhouse in the night/early morning.
There is plenty to do to keep you busy with different activities for a day or two.
