“Avoid this hotel!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

The hotel looks very nice from the outside. However, you are situated next to the desert and it is very hot. The hotel felt like a sauna inside. Who wants to sleep in a sauna, eat in a sauna or hang out all day in a sauna? They tried me in 3 different rooms and I finally just gave in. The service was horrible. The one nice thing about this hotel was the pool. It was the only place to cool off. Of course they had let all the local boys in from the town so they were gawking at all the tourist girls, shouting and making tons of splashing in the pool. It was not a pleasant atmosphere. The breakfast was also a joke. They try and save money by putting out the cheapest food items. I live and work in Tunisia and I will definitely never take my clients here.

Room Tip: This is not a 4 star hotel. It looks grand and amazing when you drive up, but that is about it. Do...

me and my boyfriend only stayed for one night at el mouradi ( we where on a two day excursion). the hotel is stunning. the food was really tasty and there was a wide variety! we didnt arrive until late to the hotel and my boyfriend went in the pool at 7pm and said the water was red hot even at that time! the hotel even had a cat eatery for the hotel cats which where regularly vet checked which always wins points in my book lol. our room was massive! The size of an apartment, it had a seperate toilet then a bathroom, a dining area a settee and 2 arm chairs! my only negative was tht our bath had no plug...but i imagine that was just a one off. also you can smoke in the hotel in the bar area, reception the rooms...which was a negative for me a non smoker but suited my boyfriend who does. being fussy id say the room was a bit dated just the patterns on the curtains bedspread etc but either way the bed was still comfortable. the hotel is literally across the road from the sahara desert, the weather was so sooo hot even at quarter to 4 wen we had an early get up it was red hot!

Definately the nicest hotel we stayed in during our trip through Tunisia. Great pool, pretty good food, and big rooms. Would definately recommend.

This hotel is really beautiful, but as all other hotels I stayed in Tunisia, needs maintenance and plumping service. Again, I would say that the staff is very polite and buffet is nice. View from the rooms overlooking the desert is fantastic, with walking distance from the "activities field", i.e. promenade on a camel or on arabian horses, carts, small planes flying over the desert etc.

My friend and I stayed here just one night in our trip to the south of Tunisia. We found the hotel to be very good, better than the one that we had in the north (Hammamet).

The hotel was beautiful and reception staff very professional and nice.

The room was quite normal, nothing special and very basic but fortunately everything, including the bathroom, was clean.

We had included the dinner and the breakfast and the food was really good: a lot of variety, with local and international dishes, and very tasty. We were pleasantly surprised. It is not easy to find hotels with good food in Tunisia.

I highly recommend you this hotel and I would back again without doubt.

the El Mourdi is a very nice hotel which is well located and offers a very nice dining room with good quality food.

I have two criticisms.

First, the wireless service is 7 dinars per hour ($5) which seems excessive in comparison to most other hotels in Tunisia where it is usually free

Second, we made the mistake of booking a camel ride on the adjacent desert at the hotel front desk. The charge was three times higher than if we had merely walked outside the hote. and arranged it on our own. Adding insult to injury, the camel driver neglected to fasten the saddle of my friend's camel, producing a major fall which fortunately only caused bruises and a destroyed camera

Been there twice. Always nice. Perfect for a short trip into the `desert´ (pics on camelback, then back to the hotel swimming pool). Food is good. Not much to do on long stays. Perfect for two nights. Excellent price-quality ratio. Compared to the lousy and expensive hotels in Djerba or Soussa, you will enjoy much more your stay here. Staff is friendly, but reserved, as normal in this part of the country. They will arrange for all kinds of trips you want (4x4, camelback, sleep in the desert, etc). Ah! You can buy nice things in the small medina downtown (3km from the hotel).
