“Wonderful Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We were at the Hilton Labriz on a friend's recommendations to celebrate my birthday. We had a very relaxing time, enjoyed our villa with pool (Number 405), and were well taken care of.
As this was Easter weekend, the place was fairly busy but we had a great time walking along the beach. The Spa was wonderful as we enjoyed a couples massage in an amazing setting.
We enjoyed the activity center and went fishing and had a blast --- we highly recommend. We had an Easter seafood B-B-Q at our villa which included the red snapper which we had caught on the fishing trip.
We could have plans things a bit better when we arrived and have gone to the local market in Beau Vallon rather than waiting around until 1:30 pm when our room was ready. We arrived in Mahe at 7:30 am and were taken to the Hilton Labriz waiting area until the 10:00 am ferry was ready to depart. Once we arrived on Silhouette Island, we were offered breakfast and were told that our villa would not be ready until 2:00 pm -- a bit of a nuisance.
We enjoyed the happy hour and requested that we have sushi and sashimi back at the villa. While there was a bit of resistance to cater to our wishes, we insisted and in the end it all worked out -- but, at a price.
Wonderful place, enjoy and just do not ask how much.

Room Tip: Go for the pool villa on the beach -- the sound of the waves is wonderful and these villas are very...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

We have been to a couple of Hilton hotels in the last year on holiday and they didn't come up to scratch, so before booking here, we emailed the manager for some assurances. He said we would have no worries and certainly this was true. From the moment we stepped off the helicopter, there were staff waiting to transfer us to our rooms. We were introduced to the manger on duty, Bora who went out of his way to look after us. We were lucky enough to be given one of the six (i think) beach front smaller pool rooms, room number 237, which are graded the same as the normal beach front rooms. All have direct access to the beach and we were very pleased with the layout and room size. I have to say though, we took a tour of the 400 and 300 series rooms, the 400s being beach front with a great private pool with waterfall and the 300s, being the same but being on the so called hillside - which basically meant being behind the beach front villas, on the flat, but with the backdrop of the hill behind the villas. These rooms were amazing, but obviously cost more. It is worth bearing in mind that the 400 series are a longer walk to the main facilities of the resort.

The public areas are excellent, with a great chill out bar, large pool and enough beds with large umbrellas. Even over Easter, there was no getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve a bed. Plenty of helpful staff, a special mention must go to Igor who our kids loved and went out of his way for us; giving our daughter a cake for her 10th birthday was really special. thanks! A good selection on the lunch menu, the fresh pizzas were amazing and when our son wanted something not on the menu, it was not a problem. There are bikes to take for a ride around the resort, free for a an hour a day each, this was a good way to go to see the tortoise sanctuary. Maybe the only quibble would be there were not bikes small enough for our 7 year old.

We ate in the Portobello, italian restaurant, Gran Kaz, creole, but the best by far was the Sakura. On our second visit there, the chef came out to see us and said he would make us special dessert - tempura ice cream and wow it was delicious. Many thanks for that. However the buffet was excellent, especially with the arrival of the new head chef who made some immediate changes, like more show cooking and making sure the foods were piping hot.

We are divers and the dive school was very efficient. Lucy our daughter did her junior scuba diver course and got on really well with the people who taught her, especially Sammy. The diving was a little pricey, but these are average Seychelles prices and the service is excellent.

We went on the fishing trip, for two hours which was great - we caught 14 fish between us and had three of them cooked for us in the Sakura restaurant, which made for a great evening.

All in all we had a really relaxing holiday and special thanks must go to the resort manager, Anthony Quinn, who saw us every day and made sure everything was going ok. He was really good the with children, who in turn loved seeing him.

Room Tip: all the beach front rooms are excellent

Amazing friendly staff in Hilton Labriz Resort Silhouette, Seychelles.
To be frank all staff we met was always friendly, helpfull and taking care of all our needs, Kids club attendants could be a bit more involved, but our kids our quite independant, so they did not mind.
Although unfair to all other staff which we do not know by name, and additional to the excellent service of all, I would really like to mention the following staff. For their typical service.
Staff in Seychelles,
Bora FB manager, for being so handson, and friendly.
Anthony Ops Manager, for being so social and caring and having an espresso with me, especially when my knee was really painfull.
Chef Frank for biking around like a proper Dutchman without his hands on the steer (gave me back so many memories) and all other chefs, for the good food.
The chefs at Sakura, for the food and the nice show, we enjoyed that one, thanks.
Bar Attendent Ragupathy, for being always in a good mood.
Waiters in bar area Rajika, Kumara, Jayantha, for being patient and coping with all our demands.
All in all we had an excellent time, thanks to all staff present. We stayed in room 106 from March 27 to April 4, 2013.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

In March we were back on Labriz with another chance to review the island once again a year on from our last visit. I’m pleased to note that we saw a number of improvements since we last came, for example – the breakfast cold meats/cheese now have a neat cover over them with a mesh front, to prevent flies landing on the food. The beach-side eating deck was now covered by a new gazebo (although the metal legs didn’t look too attractive) this was a great idea and made the area more usable in direct sun or rain. We didn’t have a problem with service last time, but it was even better this year, each time we come back they seem to improve and we were pleased to meet staff who were there last year - always a good sign when people are staying - small points but they show attention to detail and ongoing improvements!

One of the big benefits to us is the choice of restaurants that are included in the half board package (4 in total) and this year we found both the Italian and Asian restaurant food to be even better than before. You can also pay a little more and try some additional items on the menu and we did to good effect. We didn’t use the buffet this time, we much prefer the other more intimate restaurants, as taking our time over the meal is our evening!

I do agree with others that the drinks (wine at £9.50 a glass and beer a more reasonable £4.60 a bottle) and extras are expensive, but I would mitigate this by saying that they are no worse than other resorts in the Seychelles. The fact is the islands are an expensive destination and everything from taxi transfers to food is OTT at pretty much all the resorts, but we love the islands.

We had a wonderful Beach Pool Villa, which was simply superb (and VERY private) even though a few bits of furniture were starting to look slightly worn. Aside from the huge room there is large outside area and garden, which fronts the beach/sea – they are excellent if (like us) you want to be tucked away in your own private space.

We had a VERY rough crossing over to the island as the weather was bad, but having been prepared with suitable tablets we were fine. On the return journey (which wasn’t rough) the jetty staff knew we had long wait at the airport before our next island connection and they very kindly allowed us use of a day room at the Jetty, more great service!

If you are thinking of going please read our keypoints below hopefully they will help you, I have updated them since last year.

+ Here is a quick guide (+ and -) summary for the resort.

+ Ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday on an individual smaller island with no cars and a variety of different private beaches, including some away from all the Villas. Although it has the benefits of a large resort it is still relaxing and you can find your own space.
TIP: walk past the spa to find a huge separate beach away from all the rooms, or the other way past the lagoon if you want a longer walk down to the Tortoise sanctuary. If you like a more arduous walk then you can also go over the hill footpaths (through the foliage) to the other side of island.
TIP: shop around before booking as there are some great deals available, which make Labriz very good value compared to many lesser resorts.
- NOT best for those who want lots of activities or entertainment. Also as a large resort it doesn’t have the no news no shoes feel of some of the outer islands (but does have 5 restaurants!) – which is why we usually book both!

+ Easy transfer from the airport to the stylish jetty, it is a classy relaxing place to wait after your long flight. Regular boats so waiting time is relatively short and the boat ride is very enjoyable if the sea isn't too rough
- It can get very rough sometimes.
TIP: Take a travel tablet in advance if you suffer from sea-sickness (the other half does and she was fine).
TIP: Check your return ferry times as the first leaves at 5AM (!!!) the next is 11am.

+ Quick direct buggy transfers to your rooms (+ free buggy transfer service during your stay).
- Still too many buggies flying around on the path behind the rooms, which means you have to continually watch your back as they are silent!!

+ All the rooms are very nice (spacious and classy with large bathrooms and outside space), but the beach front ones are worth the extra, pool villas are the best if you can afford them - they are superb.
TIP: don’t save a few pounds and book the garden rooms you will likely regret not having a beach front room on an island beach holiday!
- Some of the garden villas furthest from the beach are near a generator that hums (check with reception).
TIP: People tend to take walks along the beach, some rooms are screened from the beach for extra privacy, others have open sea views, those nearest to the Spa tend to be the quietest, so pre-request what suits you.

+ There is a big, good quality pool area (plus bar/Pizza) if this appeals.

+ The snorkelling is great if you can get over the reef where it is simply teeming with fish, I also saw a number of Turtles during our stay. - It is hard to do this from the shore (high tide is best to avoid waves breaking over the reef, but the sea can be rather rough).
- There should be FREE organised snorkelling trips and more day trips at reasonable prices.
TIP – Take your own equipment as hire is expensive and ask the activity team for the weeks tide times, which are printed with daily weather and dining options. Also ensure good footwear if you intend to walk to the reef edge at low tide as there are sea urchins etc.

+ The dine around scheme is excellent with 4 restaurants to choose from, although not exceptional the food is now very good. TIP: Ensure you pre-book half board and the menu signature dishes appear to be the tastiest.

We are regulars to the Seychelles so believe that we are well placed to judge the island against others in the same area. When giving a 5 star award, we aren’t saying it is perfect, just balancing the cost, service, food quality, island beaches and accommodation against our expectations and other hotels at this price point! Labriz hit the spot again this year and we were sorry to leave.

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday feeling totally relaxed. This hotel is a little jewel that we shall definitely be returning to.
From the moment we landed at seychelles airport we were met by a member of staff and driven to the jetty, here they take your details and check you in whilst you freshen up and offer you a drink.
The boat journey was about 45 mins, the crew are friendly professional. On reaching the Island your met and given a quick ride around the resort then dropped to your villa.
The villas are all beautifully set out and spacious & room service is efficient with any request. Every member of staff at this hotel are fabulous, nothing's too much! The food is delicious and beautifully presented, there's plenty of choice.
We would like to thank all at the Labriz for making our stay fantastic.
This hotels a must, don't hesitate just book that holiday.
Lastly the beach is stunning everything and more that we imagined, the photos don't capture the incredible beauty of Silhouette Island. Snorkelling is great, the sea is wonderfully warm mmmm. Just wish I was there now......
Thank you all for making our stay memorable Si & Jo
See you next year :-)

It seems they have picked up the critics from the past. We had a clean big Garden Villa, with very attentative staff (roomboy and in the restaurant). There were absolutely NO problems with wrong bills, everything was correct. Very good eating, however the prices for any drinks are way too high, except in the bar at happy hour. They should lower the prioces by 1/3 and that definitly attract more people to enjoy a glass of wine. Almost no insects and those few mini ants were sprayed away by the roomboy. Giving a tip in the middle of the stay lead to beautiful swan-towel decoration of the bed and a filled hot bath tub decorated with candels and flowers, although we were not on honeymoon. There were many families with children, which all appeared to be happy. The whole complex was kept very clean. There are NO Jet-skies, banana boats etc, also no animation, so a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy the quietness. Breakfast was plentiful and available until 11am. Mostly french guests, followed by Germans, Russians, Austrians etc. . Free WiFi in all rooms, beautiful beaches, friendly staff, a SPA with reasonable prices compared to Europe let us recommend this hotel! We would love to come again!

Room Tip: The cheapest Garden Villa is nice... but a seaview villa with or without plunge pool would be on our...
