“Best place ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

This small lodge was the most beautiful place we stayed during our holidays on the Seychelles. The Island is unique in the world and you are nearly alone. When you walk through the djungle you feel like you are the only on on this Island. Cedric is extremely helpful and has an open ear for every wish. We wanted lemongrass tea and he made fresh tea for us. we really enjoyed the breakfest which was served in the open restaurant with sea view. The lodge is situated on the nicest beach of the island. The dinner was also very nice with candles in the open restaurant. We had been upgraded from the standard room to a deluxe room. The rooms are big with a lot of space and very clean and modern. Cedric is manager, janitor, cook, gardener.... we loved how he decorates the restaurant, very romantic, with lots of candles. Thank you Cedric, we will come again, for sure!!!

We stayed here for 5 nights until end of december, we have choosen the
small villa , double-storey which is brand-new as the hotel has opened in
2012 so all the details of it are just perfect. On 1st floor you have the very
comfortable bed, a small balcony and the luxury bathromm. We enjoyed
the privacy of the villa with the surrounding covered terrasse where you can
relax on a huge day-bed, just in front of a row of trees, palms and the beach behind.
Unfortunately, the tide was extreme on day-time so swimming was limited. But
it helped us to get active during the days which was a welcome addition to our stays
in Mahe and Denis Island. The island is wonderful , you can either walk down the
beach towards the Hilton Hotel with the 2km long beach or behind the Lodge you
have several walking trails of different lengths to unique, natural beaches. It is easy
to reach the places, unhabitat and out of this world. Take a picnick prepared by Cedric
with you , take a rest at our destination, enjoy the wilderness and you will return back
home with memories that you will remember for the next 100 years.
What else ? Well, what shall I say....thanks Cedric that we had the chance to be your host.
The menu that he prepared every day for dinner was out of this part of the world, always a
suprise and made with passion and talent. I learned that he cooked in several famous restaurants
in different continents, his last venture was a gourment kitchen in the Provence. His freshly blended juices that he offers every morning are amongst the best I have ever tasted.
With Veronique together , he has won my personal "Top of the Top", with such a quality for the food, the clean rooms, the perfect location , they are on the journey into paradise.
clap-clap-clap - congratulation!

Every now and then you find accommodation that far exceeds your expectations in so many ways. La Belle Tortue is one of those places. We have just returned from an exceptionally memorable holiday made even more special by the "on the beach" location of this wonderful lodge and the meticulous attention to detail and helpfulness of its manager (and chef extaordinaire!), Cedric. From the very first minute until our departure, we were surrounded by the sheer beauty of an island guest house/small luxury hotel that is really difficult to do justice to and spoilt by the relaxed nature and "barefoot luxury" that large resorts can only aspire to. On our arrival by a short boat ride from the main island, Mahe, we were met by Cedric and whisked by golf buggy to our spotless rooms that are very modern, very comfortable and very well appointed. We even had a welcome pack of fresh fruit and homemade cookies that were simply delicious. Perhaps the highlight of staying at La Belle Tortue though (besides its stunning setting on a pristine stretch of palm fringed beach that you usually only see in travel brochures) is the food. Breakfast is a relaxed affair (served when you want it) with a spread of fresh fruit, cereal, croissants, great coffee/tea, homemade preserves and local honey!
Dinner is an extravagant treat that is eagerly anticipated by all the guests as, each night, Cedric prepares 3 courses of the most sublime food imaginable. I have eaten in many good restaurants but the dishes that emanate from Cedric's kitchen are simply out of this world! Each course over seven nights was different and not one was disappointing - prepared with many local ingredients (including fresh fish caught by Cedric - with photos to prove it!). We loved every minute of our holiday at La Belle Tortue and now can't wait to go back! Many thanks Cedric and Veronique for such an amazing holiday!

A friend and me spent only a few nights at La Belle Tortue and we absolutely loved it! The best location of the island. The best beach.
We have been there out of season, so we have been the only guests. And we were treated like gods.
If you need some days off, some time for nice weather, walks, snorkelling, and yummie dinners La Belle Tortue is a MUST!!!

A big thumb up!!!

We arrived by boat from Mahé ( all organised by the incredible Cédric .. master chef and our host at La Belle Tortue) .. it was worth it .. seeing the small silhouette if Silhouette Island.. getting closer.. a green natural paradise in a blue turquoise water.. Cédric welcomed us at "our home".. and home it was.. in fact .. better than home.. We were the only guests for 2 days ..then another couple joined the Lodge ( there are only 9 villa/lodge rooms) .. Cédric pampered us.. explained everything, suggested what to do .. cooked for us .. ( he should get a star by Michelin:-) ... fresh food, fish, .. amazingly creative and healthy.. we went diving ( Padi center) .. went on a tour around the island, equipped with a lunch basket specially prepared for us.. has a romantic dinner at the beach.. loved our villa.. (deluxe equippement, but not overdone) .. satelite TV ( we didn't watch, internet, an excellent bed, personalised fridge ( you give your list) .. we surely will come back.. thank you Cédric.. Please keep it small as it is ( SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL !)

Room Tip: Don't go to La Belle Tortue .. if you expect a Resort Hotel .. Go there if you like small fine...
