I met my mom and sister here for the Mother's Day weekend. My mother had stayed at this hotel previously and raved about it. We were upgraded to a mini suite which was a corner room so only a partial view of the lake. We wondered why the bed did not have a bedspread - perhaps they were being stolen so they no longer put them on? The Mother's Day brunch was held in a conference room, not the restaurant as my mom thought it would be. The hostess said to another man "show these guys to table 20". These guys?! Bad manners to say the least! The waitress showed up about 20 minutes later to get our coffee order again addressing us as "you guys" and chewing gum. They did not have saucers for the coffee cups and plastic cups for the juice, tacky tacky tacky. The food was mediocre and this was $20 a person. It seems to be popular as there were 2 weddings and a prom group but we just were not impressed.

The hotel is in an absolutely beautiful location. We booked a simple king, smoking room on the 5th floor. The room was ok but the view of the lake was great. That night there were some extremely noisy people on this floor. Screaming, yelling and running down the halls at 2 in the morning. We didn't get much sleep to say the least. The next morning we awoke to find there was no hot water to take showers. At this point I am fuming. We went downstairs to speak with the staff. They offered us free breakfast in their restaurant, we weren't interested. I asked to speak with the manager who was very helpful. They discounted us on our one night stay and upgraded us to a suite for the next night. The suite was great. The view was gorgeous with 4 windows instead of one. The jucuzzi was great with exception of the lighting in the bathroom; very bright! The hotel had it's flaws but the staff made it right.

This hotel has it all. Very nice lounge, with a good selection of local wines. Terrific banquet space: was there for a corporate retreat. And the room I had was incredibly spacious, clean and well appointed with a truly fantastic view of picturesque Seneca Lake. My only two minor recommendations to approve an otherwise stellar experience:
1- Put a romantic dimmed light in the bathroom with the jacuzzi bath. Choice was either to have blinding ceiling lights on, or no light. Not particularly romantic.
2- Update the furniture. Nothing really wrong with it, but relative to the overall quality of the room/property it wasn't quite up to snuff.

Oh, and literally every single one of the staff I interacted with were remarkably helpful, knowledable, polite and service-focused.

Definitely a great property all around.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and didn't have high expectations, but were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, polite staff and decent food. The hotel is located right on Lake Seneca--although our room did not have a view, it was nice to wake up in the morning and take a walk along the path by the water. The location is also very convenient to downtown and easy to find by car even if you are unfamiliar with the city. Also just a stone's throw from Hobart WS College.
