“Local grown and raised food but hard to get a table”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Second time here and worth coming back. Very local establishment. Reservations are recommended and are accepted after 3:00 pm. They are only able to take reservations two weeks in advance.

Started off with a Warm Beet/Citrus Salad. It was perfect with just the right amount seasoning and dressing. Which not to masked the beets, citrus or over soaked the macro greens.

Followed with with tandoori chicken with almond-onion curry over basmati rice and grilled pitas. I have to say some of the best tandoori I have eaten.

Nothing to add other then I will be back!

“Ports Cafe (Revisited) and still excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Got back to Ports on a recent trip to Geneva, NY. Still a great place. Reservations on a Friday or Saturday highly recommended. Ports does it right in all areas. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food great. Had a Ribeye and Duck Confit. Both excellent. Wine selection from the local wineries is very good. Prices are fair. The atmosphere is relaxed. Some outdoor seating is available.

“AMAZING!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

This is a MUST if visiting anywhere near Geneva. The food was fantastic and living in the Boston area with top notch dining choices we know good food. We ordered off the "daily specials" menu which promises local produce and ingredients and it did not disappoint. We were lucky and walked in without reservations but I would highly recommend reservations as the place was packed and it is a small restaurant.

“Repeat fans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Whenever we are in the Geneva area we try to have dinner at Ports Cafe. Don't even think about going with out a reservation as the place is always packed with locals and tourists. THe menu doesn't even come close to describing the food since the nightly specials are about 3 times what is listed on the menu .
THe food is exceptional, always creative and supurbly prepared and it is very reasonably priced. Last night I had some of the best roast lamb and garlic mashed potatoes ever! THey have an extensive list of Finger Lake superior wines and good beers on tap. THe staff knows the food and describe it well.
It is not a place for atmosphere since it is rather small and quite noisy. THere are many parents and their kids from Hobart College and young couples on dates. Walk ins are often turned away at the door due to table wait time.
After I finished my lamb dinner I had to have one of their deserts, a good old fashion sunday - Port's style = Ben & Jerry's coffee ice cream, topped with coffee liquor , chocolate sauce and whipped cream. I didn't leave a morsel.

“An Unexpected Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Visited Ports Café last evening with another couple. We have driven past this restaurant dozens of times over the years and never gave a thought to stopping... that will surely change based on last night's experience.

Our server, Tom, was engaging and helpful. The list of daily specials was extensive and interesting. Our shared starters included crab ravioli, PEI mussels, and pastry wrapped baked brie... all very tasty. I had the winter night salad of greens, apples, gorgonzola, cranraisins, walnuts topped with a raspberry vinaigrette… an excellent salad. My main course of twin beef filets with sea scallops and roasted/grilled vegetables… perfectly cooked. My wife said her chicken marsala was delicious and very well done. The deserts were equally outstanding… crème brulle, a chocolate stout cake and some other chocolate-based torte.

Not surprisingly, the wine list tilts toward NY state offerings but it broad enough to satisfy anyone who is looking for something a little less local. Reservations are highly recommended… the restaurant was still packed when we left at 10 pm. The noise level was a little bit loud but I really didn’t notice given the quality of the food and service. This is a Finger Lakes gem!
