I frequently go up to Geneva and eat at the Belhurst Castle...in their upscale restaurant as well as their more subdued Stonecutters. The setting is really very lovely, a treat during the summer. The staff in general is friendly. Eric at the restaurant bar is memorable, and there are some congenial staffers at Stonecutters....
The food is just average. During the summer, there is more of an attempt to produce something of quality. At other times, it is quite spotty, with over-use of the microwave and damage to the gums. I like one particular dish, the Denali, and have to say that at this time of year, it is nothing like the dish I had during the summer.
This is a wonderful oppportunity for any hotelier to make their mark, since there is really no other competition. Perhaps it is this fact that makes the establishment so complacent, which is a shame for the visitors as well as the history of the place. I sincerely wish I had the chance these folks have to make this place the stellar place it should be, given its heritage.
