Owner description: Boscobel, the elegant Federal period house museum set on lovely landscaped grounds with breathtaking views of the Hudson River, has been welcoming visitors to explore its man-made and natural beauty for decades. It is an acclaimed gleaming jewel in the Hudson River Valley's crown. Vice President & New York Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller referred to Boscobel as "one of the most beautiful homes ever built in America." In 2014, as we celebrate Boscobel's 53rd year as a house museum, we are more than ever focused on Boscobel's mission "to enrich the lives of its visitors with memorable experiences of the history, culture and environment of the Hudson River Valley". Attractions include guided mansion tours, the Rose and Herb Gardens, the Woodland Trail of Discovery, annual signature events, such as the Big Band Concert & Sunset Picnic, as well as The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performances each summer. Plus, let Pete Seeger, Bob Boyle, John Cronin, John Adams, Bobby Kennedy Jr. And Al Butzel - the giants of the mid-20th century environmental movement - tell you what they did to save the Hudson River on Boscobel's free, self-guided walking audio tour. It also tells how Boscobel and our country's independence were saved by the brave and quick actions of citizens of the Hudson River Valley. Situated on 68 acres on the east bank of the Hudson River opposite the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Boscobel is open every day except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving & Christmas Day. (The museum & grounds are closed to the public January through March.)

I've went to Boscobel once, and it's worth the drive. The tour guide I had was particularly nice, out of a lot of friendly people. I'd like to thank Kathy, the tour guide I had.The cookies and lemonade were a cute surprise. Really nice. The new audios provided a lot of information and I know the places I heard about really well! The hiking trail is nice and short, but not too short. :) I saw Providence Marsh from a whole different view when I was down there.Overall, my first visit to Boscobel was 'excellent'. I hope to go there again sometime, and soon.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

I go every year to see the plays they have outdoors in the summer. The shows are always great, they have concessions and booze - You can picnic on the grounds before the show, and the view overlooking the Hudson River is awesome. Just a very lovely way to spend the day.

“Boscobel enchant's - whether as a garden or as a playhouse!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We have been many times to Boscobel, both as part of the Hudson Valley Garden tour, or as a viewer of the Shakespeare festival performances. In both settings, Boscobel has shined, and given us more than we expected. The ground are extensive, and well maintained with many Botanical samples, the house is a treat to explore, and the performances are a lot of fun.

“Excellent house tour guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

It is wonderful to learn something new, and that happened at Boscobel House today. The tour of the holiday decorated house was interesting and we had time to read the large displays of its history in the gift shop area where we waited for our guide. There were only seven of us, and questions were answered in each room by our very knowledgeable guide. The view of the Hudson River is unsurpassed. The grounds would be worth seeing again in warmer weather.
