“Very nicely renovated hotel in the heart of garden City.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The hotel went through a complete renovation recently, which was needed. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms nicely appointed. Bar / lounge and restaurant are excellent. Service all around was very good. Brand new spa just recently opened.

Very pleasant experience from start to finish. Friendly and helpful staff from the valet parking, to the doorman, front desk, housekeeping and the hotel shop! Lovely and comfortable decor; our double room was very large and well appointed with a full size couch. The bathroom & closet were also very good sized. Another plus - it is short walk to a small and charming town center with shops, restaurants and pubs.

I booked a room for a one night get away its the wife and two small children. I called the hotel directly from its website where I was placed on hold for a loooong time. When I finally got through to reservations, I specifically asked the person if there was an indoor pool and if the pool was open. The woman advised me that there was, in fact, an indoor pool, that it was heated and that the pool had recently been fully renovated. The indoor pool was important as this is what the kids wanted to do. Upon check in, however, I was advised that the pool had not yet been opened, and the receptionist, who was very nice, told me that she had no idea why anyone would tell me otherwise. Had we known this, we would have booked elsewhere. In any event, we cancelled the reservation and tried to find somewhere else to take the kids given that we had already packed and left the house. Given the short notice, it wasn't easy to do and he kids and wife were very disappointed. Ruined weekend.

Lovely hotel, excellent location. Friendly front desk staff. Excellent good sized nicely furnished, comfortable rooms.
I really wanted to to rate this hotel much higher, but the noise from the housekeeping staff in the corridors was a unacceptable for a hotel of this standard, they yell down the corridors all day, slam door continuously, and have no consideration for guests trying to rest or sleep.
Also very poor wi fi connection.

We stayed there for 1 night because we were attending a party on premises. We found the service generally very good and the rooms good size and decent. There is a very nice bar and restaurant where i had lunch. The food was very good as was the bar which had high end wines by the glass and spirit selection.

We had a 1 bedroom deluxe suite. The room consisted of a long narrow living room with an kitchenette area consisting of a microwave, sink & full size fridge. Outside the kitchen area was a table. The upgrades to the kitchenette where too basic and not fitting with the hotel. Way too cookie cutter.

The bedroom was also long and narrow. Too narrow, in that there was very little room between the bed and dresser. The bathroom had a makeup room which was convenient and then a separate room with a toilet, tub with a shower.

The upgrades to the bathroom were also done very cheaply and not fitting with the general quality of this hotel. They were hardly noticeable. I realize that this is an older hotel, but they should have done more to improve the bathrooms and kitchen area.

I used the spa once which was good but i found the relaxation area, where you wait before and between treatments, to be too tight and crowded.

That said, this is a nice hotel and we had a decent stay.

I stayed at the Garden City Hotel for 1 night and I found the facility and service to be excellent. We arrived late and the front desk said they did not have a reservation for us. Our admin person had not followed up to obtain a confirmation number when she made reservation requests several weeks previously. After a few minutes of checking, the front desk manager said that although they were booked, there were several no shows and he found 2 rooms for us - very good customer service!

The rooms were very large and comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was terrific - uploads and downloads at 90MB! If you plan to drink the bottled water in the room - be aware the cost is $5.00 per small bottle!

We had a light meal in the Polo Lounge - the lobster roll was excellent at $24 - plenty of lobster on the sandwich.

I look forward to my next stay at the Garden City Hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear of hotel should be quieter - railroad line in the front.

Thank you for your recent stay while traveling on business, and for your review! We just recently completed a WiFi upgrade throughout the hotel, I am glad to hear you had such ease of use and speed as the result. I will be sure to extend your compliments of the Polo Lounge menu options to our culinary and restaurant team. We look forward to seeing you on a future stay, thank you again!
