My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Sierra in Fishkill, NY. For three nights in April. The previous reviewers were correct in that is similar to a Residence Inn. But in our estimation it is a cut above Residence Inns.
My wife especially liked the special touches. The rose made out of toilet paper on the roll in the bathroom and the fan on the paper towel roll in the kitchen.
This inn is in an excellent location in a commercial area that includes medical facilities, a lake, all types of shopping and a Wall-Mart. It is located near the Interstate exit and is easy on and off. Don't get me wrong, even in a commercial area it is very quiet. My wife and I are very light sleepers and we never heard a thing.
The hot breakfast was wonderful, we both had the made to order omelet one morning and hot eggs, bacon and ham the other days.
We liked the decor and the housekeeping was excellent.
The full kitchen was only lacking an oven, but who needs a oven when on vacation.
This hotel has a very spacious feel. The rooms are large and are unclutered, you never feel crowded. The disk clerks were very helpful and allowed us to look at a couple of room so we could make up our minds.
The rate was very attractive. We would recommend this place to anyone.

This hotel was very nice. It was nearly brand new when we stayed, the lobby, lounge and rooms were all very nice and clean.
We stayed in a King Suite which had a kitchen, desk, tv, sofabed and armchair in one room and the kind bed and bath in the other which was seperated by double doors. The bed was comfortable, but the sofabed was not (they usually aren't though). There were plenty of functioning windows, our view was of walmart. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby,

They served a great free breakfast in the morning and had an omelet station with limited ingredients. We came down at around 9am and no one was there to make an omelet, but we found them back in the ktchen area. There was eggs, ham, potatoes, fruit, cereal, oatmeal etc. It was almost as good as breakfast at Embassy Suites.

The only qualm I had with the hotel is that they are advertised as being 10 minutes away from Newburgh Airport - but it's really farther (took us 25 min in light traffic). I only stayed there to be close to the airport. If I had to do it again, I'd stay at Homewood Suites - it's right next to the airport, But, if you're in the fishkill area this is a good choice.

We were in Fishkill to visit with family over the holidays and this year chose the Hotel Sierra. Beautiful lobby, friendly staff and nice rooms overall!

Here's the level of service we encountered.... I asked if the bar would be open during the weekend's football games. Unfortunately, it wasn't, but the staff told us we could still use their lounge to watch the games on their HD big screens. Can we bring in food? SURE! Can we bring in alcohol? Unfortunately, no, but beer and wine was available for purchase in their "mini-shop". Needless to say, we had our family over to watch the game in the lounge and joined another party of 6 who were already there. The staff provided cutlery, plates, etc. and made sure there was hot coffee and hot water for tea during that time. No complaints from the staff or other guests - what a fun night!

The kids were slightly disappointed in the pool area - the pool is only 4 ft. deep, but overall, this hotel is incredible!! We look forward to staying there again in the future!!

I have stayed here twice and both times the room was great and the staff was wonderful. Both times the room was very clean as well as the hotel itself. I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite (They offer a guest room, 1 & 2 bedroom suites) For my family of 3 it is great. There is the bedroom area which the bedding is very comfortable, then there is the living room and efficency kitchen area and that is great for being able to keep food and cook so no need to keep running out to eat if you are there for an extended stay. There is an indoor pool and they also allow the family pet to stay. The breakfast is not continental it is hot and good for a buffet set up. They have happy hour and you will find many of the business guests there at the end of the day. The price may be higher than the basic hotel, but basic is not what you get. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It certainly is roomie and gives us a nice place to stay when we visit family in NY. A must try and not only are business guests there but many families as well!

Ok it's Fishkill, NY - you don't expect much BUT.. this place is pretty good. The Sierra suites provides well appointed rooms. GREAT Staff, and comfortable, clean bedding. I was pleasantly surprised at the place. Breakfast each day is provided and is very good. OK so you have to look at WALMART from your room. It's Fishkill - close the curtains and enjoy your room. There are apparently different types of suites - some just rooms, others much more. I gotthe room only style, and was happy with it. Despite dozens of swim team kids there for a meet, the place was relatively quiet and was kept clean.

  • Liked — Well thought out, well appointed rooms
  • Disliked — The view of WALMART
