“not yet ready”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We had booked the accommodation 6 months in advance and wondered what we would find after reading many negative reviews. We had booked a suite with 2 bedrooms, king size beds in each for 2 nights. Upon arrival we saw that one bedroom only had a double bed. The staff was most helpful to solve the problem and finally got us 2 separate rooms with king size beds for the same prize even though the motel was booked up for the second night. At this time we were willing to give it a 4 Star rating. The size of the property is huge. Not only does it consist of a number of individual buildings on different levels, it also has a bar, a big pool area and several large rooms which don’t seem to be used at this time. We were told the property was bought and turned into a Travelodge. Our bedroom would have needed a thorough renovation but the mattress was perfect, no complaints about pillows, linens or towels. We had a great view and even a balcony.
They have an issue with cleanliness. The room was acceptable apart from the windows but the main building was filthy. Breakfast is until 10am but at 09.15 the buffet was just about empty, no clean knifes, cups, juice. The person in charge tried her best to keep up with the demand and eventually she had everything replaced. The same happened the following morning.
They have a nice pool area which was closed. Because we had great weather we asked to use the lounge chairs around the pool and they opened the area for our use. We also got wine glasses for the room when we asked for them.
The motel is located on top of a hill and very quiet yet it is close to restaurants and attractions. All in all it was not a bad stay but the motel seems to be understaffed, and definitely needs a lot of renovation.

We would like to start by thanking you for sharing information about your stay. We have been working very hard to bring the property back up. As you mentioned the property is huge and this has been a very large undertaking. We have begun a better system of training and checking our rooms for cleanliness issues, as well as have brought on additional staff for the kitchen. Thank you again for your input and we hope to have you stay with us again to see all the new changes that have been made.

I thought the staff I had as soon as I checked in was cheerful and so helpful. The room was amazing especially the scenery I got to see from looking out my window. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot in today's economy. And I plan on going back again and again. Thank you travelodge for making my stay extraordinary.

We stayed again the beginning of Sept. We knew the hotel is under going renovations. Had another enjoyable stay. Felt like visiting old family at Scarlett's Lounge. I would recommend some lighting at the stairs in back between the bar and hotel.

Room Tip: Not a Hilton, but wonderful value. Love to see the wildlife in the back.

Great location right off the NYS Thruway, but far enough away so that you don't hear any traffic noise.
Helpful, courteous staff, clean rooms, in room safe.
The rooms might be a little dated, but everything else about the hotel more than makes up for it!
Free continental breakfast on Sunday was a nice added touch.
We're planning on staying here again and again!

Room Tip: Ask for Kris when you call to make a reservation!
