“Good Value for Canadians”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Just stayed at The Inn at Holiday Valley over the Canadian March Break. Although there was very little snow and it was 80 degrees, we still managed to get in 1 day of slush skiing (diehards) The Inn, is clean and well maintained, but best of all, ski-in, ski out right from our patio door. The decor is a bit dated, and the beds/linens are not the most luxurious, but for the price (which included lift tickets for 4 people and a continental breakfast) it was a great value. Best skiing for Ontarians...better than Blue Mountain and almost the same drive away. Cute town, grocery shopping closeby, and outstanding apres ski life in many quaint pubs and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again, and will continue to ski there rather than Ontario north

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the mountain and try to get on a ground floor room so that you can ski righ...

I expected a bit more from this resort. The rooms were average. Great location you just walk outside the inn and jump on a ski lift. The continental breakfast is a joke! Cereal, bagels, bulk yogurt, milk and french toast. Severely lacking. It wouldn't take much to make it better. How about oatmeal, small yogurts, decent fruits? If a lot of the small hotel chains can put on a decent breakfast, why can't you?

Loaded the family into the car and headed south about 2 hrs from Oakville to the quaint village go Ellicottville, NY. Stayed at the Inn at Holiday Valley for some family skiing followed by family style après. Had been to Ellicottville once before in University but this was a family holiday! Arrived at the Inn at Holiday Valley and couldn't believe how nice and clean our room was and even better how close we were to the ski lift. Service throughout our stay was very pleasant . Our girls, ages 12 and 10 skiied, snowboarded and rode the snow coaster. Parents had lots of runs to choose from and the coffee houses and restaurants were just fine. We couldn't believe the overall value of an Ellicottville weekend. Good restaurants in town and a few good ones right across from the Inn. The girls loved seeing the snowboards lined up against the Burger King across the street (also known as the BK Lounge - totally rad!).if you're looking for something as quaint as Collingwood with chocolate cafes, hip stores and good California wines at better than half the price consider E-ville and the Inn at Holiday Valley!

Just stayed here over the MLK holiday weekend. First of all, it is not technically a hotel - as the rooms are all accessed from outside. So it's really more of a motel. The rooms are ok... nothing outstanding, but clean and decent. The exterior room access and adjoining storage area does work fairly well for skis and snow covered equipment and such, but it could have been a bit more accommodating - as the tiled entrance/changing area of the room quickly becomes wet and messy.

The pool/sauna/hot tub area within the main lodge of the Inn is actually pretty nice and the kids loved it. The continental breakfast is pretty lacking.

For affordable family ski lodging though, this place works perfectly fine. Access to the Sunrise lift is right next to the facility. The staff is very accommodating and the rates you can negotiate are very good. But if you're looking for something more special (and less affordable), then try the Tamarack...

Room Tip: There are rooms that have walk-out ability directly to the lift.

We stayed in room 124 Wednesday and Thursday night of "Canada Appreciation Week" (the first week in the new year. The price was amazing, $ 250 for the first night, $ 150 for the second, this included skiing on the day of arrival, the full day and until 4:30 p.m. the day of departure - oh and it included a breakfast too (more on that later).

The room was great in location - right beside the lift (but that was not noisy at all) and near enough to the main inn that we could run without coats to hit the pool or hot tub or breakfast (really more on that later !).

The ski locker outside the door is great for security and keeping the room organized. The large entrance way is well designed for skier - it's wide, has a generous sized bench and lots of pegs (about 10) to hang your gear. The room was clean, but the decor was dated, so dated our child noticed it was dated. Washroom was freezing cold at all times, no way to heat it up without leaving the heat lamp on, but that was the only discomfort.

Breakfast (told you I'd get to it ) was a nice surprise. I thought it would be continental. It was not. It was a full buffet where the hot food was changed each day. Lots of choices & Starbucks Coffee to boot, life was good.

Hot tub was hot & bar service was offered in the tub (awesome!) the pool was warm enough for kids, but most adults chose the hot tub.

I asked my spouse why we had not come down before as the skiing was great and the Inn was so wonderful, he reminded me that it was cheap when we went mid week and normally on weekends is a tonne more ..... so that's why maybe we'll be back in a year <G> !!!

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor, near the Inn.

We took advantage of a midweek package that included night skiing the first day as well as lift tickets for the next day. The room was clean, beds comfortable and the hotel had free WIFI. The best part was how close it was to the lift. The indoor outdoor pool was great as well. We would definitely return!

This was our second time visiting this hotel. We booked a midweek ski/hotel package. Our room was ready early, we were able to get out to the ski hill early as well. The room we received was right beside the ski lift. It took 20 seconds to hit the slopes from our door. The room was spacious, quiet and spotless. They have some nice soaps and a hairdryer for use. The room also had extra pillows and blankets if we needed them. We love the tiled entrance to the room with the bench. Perfect for taking off and hanging up wet ski clothes. Also the ski storage just outside the room was very convienent. We ate at John Harvard's Brew house...great selection of food and served in large portions. The included continental breakfast was fine for our needs. The morning we were there they had hot french toast, cereal, muffins, bagels, bread, oatmeal, cold eggs, yogurt with toppings, several juices and lots of starbucks coffee. We swam in the pool in the evening...the kids enjoyed it. There was lots of clean towels for use. They even sent some one over from the bar to take drink orders for the adults lounging around the pool...that was pretty cool! They also had very nice padded "patio" furniture around the pool, not your typical plastic chairs. Check out was a breeze. We enjoyed our trip and are planning on making it a yearly practise. No complaints.
