“Crowded little town, but great resort.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2011

Some of the most winter fun you can have with your family is at Holiday Valley Ski resort in New York. New Lifts make the lines zip by and in no time you are snowboarding, like me, or skiing.
I was there over the MLK weekend, and boy was it heavily crowded. The saving grace is that there are several large ski chalets on the hill, and at the bottom of several runs.
Overall the price was to be expected, a little steep, but the shuttle bus made getting in and out a breeze. I highly recommend staying in another town and driving in if money is tight.
So if you need to get awy with the family, try Holiday Valley.

“Experts will be bored”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2010

A great place for beginners and intermedaites but if you are looking for challenging runs
you wont find any here except for maybe the Wall which is very short. Blue Mountain in Collingwood is a better option.

“Beginners beware.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2010

This place hypes itself as great for beginners. Well, I'm a beginner and signed up for a beginner lesson. The instructor was nice, but didn't even show me how to stop until 70 minutes into the 90-minute lesson. I was basically helpless, and nothing was done to help me out.

Very frustrating. I had never been on skis before,-Waste of money for beginners- don't count on that place to teach you how to ski.

My other family members, who knew how to ski, had fun, so maybe it's ok for more experienced skiers or for kids learning how to ski. But for adults, forget it- I will need to learn elsewhere, I guess.

“Excellent East Coast Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2009

Enjoyed about day+half of skiing, with great snow both days.
Instructors were friendly, rental equipment was in great condition, cafe in the main chalet was a little wanting, parking plentiful, lines/lifts all great - pretty well organized all around.
8 hr lift / rental / 90 min group lesson = $90
We'll be back as soon as possible

“Two Thumbs Up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2006

Holiday Valley is awesome to say the least! It has everything all year round. In the winter it has skiing, which is two thumbs up. In the summer season, Holiday Valley has golfing available for its members. It is a really fun place to ski at. They have a nice restaurant in which is attached to a ski lodge. It is a blast and a must see if you are in Ellicottville. They have a lodges that they rent out if you are interested, as well as a hotel if you are planning to stay at Holiday Valley. It is surrounded by a great town that features many acceptional restaurants and gift shops. Ski shops are all around, so if you need a pair of skis or a snowboard, visit Ellicottville. I would give Holiday Valley two thumbs up!
