“A small hill with a big personality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Ski snobs looking at statistics for "vertical" won't be impressed, but there is some great skiing to be had at Holiday Valley. There are wide groomers, smaller tree-lined trails, and even some glades to entertain beginning and intermediate skiers. Expert skiers may not find the "steeps" they can find in Vermont or Mont Tremblant, but otherwise this is a great skiing representative of the east coast. Trails go in a variety of directions from the tops of the lifts giving the impression of a bigger resort with the ability to get away from the lodge. The lodges are spacious and clean, but feel a little too resort-ish for my taste - my group didn't find any place fun to sit and enjoy a cocktail so we headed into town for the apres ski.

“Best Skiing in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We traveled to Holiday Valley today from Guelph ON (about 3 hours), it was well worth the trip. This is the best skiing that is within driving distance of us! We loved the runs, especially the back side of the mountain with all the trees. The line ups were short, people were great, snow was amazing. This was my first day out and I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and good condition of the lodges, washrooms ect. One of the best days skiing/ snowboarding ever. Would like to plan a longer trip out for next year.

“Holiday Valley ski trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We went to the Holiday Valley resort over President's Day weekend 2013. I was pleasantly surprised. The lodge area has been recently redone and is very attractive. The lodge is bright and clean. The staff at the ski rentals and merchandise areas were helpful and pleasant. The ski runs are more varied and longer than at Peek n Peak, and the trails were nicely groomed. The snow was particularly good on Friday. The lift operators were helpful, especially to families with small children. I really appreciate the fact that the resort had staff directing the lines at the busy lifts which assisted in making the lines move efficiently despite the large crowds on Saturday. The nearby downtown of Ellicotttville is quaint and offers many restaurants. We stayed at Snow Pine Village (do not recommend-see that review), but there are many other lodging choices. Snow Pine does offer ski in/out, but be aware that the Snow Pine lift closes at 4:30, and cannot be utilized if you go back out for night skiing which we did. Overall I would recommend Holiday Valley for a fun ski weekend.

“Holiday Valley Ski Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

We spend the first part of President's week at the inn at holiday Valley. The first impression of the resort is the very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms at the Inn are clean and well kept. The skiing can be a challenge to beginners. The ski patrol is the best way to recommend trails, do not just rely on trail map recommendations. There are restaurants and bars within walking distance of the resort as well as a close village with eating and shopping opportunities. There is also tubing and coaster ride. This is our third year at the resort and intend on returning next year.

“Great Skiing!! Great overnight experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

We were there the Sunday & Monday before Valentine's Day and it was great!!! We almost had the slopes to ourselves!! Def better than the weekends if you want to avoid the crowds. The conditions were fabulous and the resort is unique in that it's not just some ski slopes and a lodge or two - there are several different lodges and then there are also other types of hideaways to find like warming huts, look out points, random shelters with bonfires made at night to hang out by that are secluded on the trails in the woods...plus the main lodges too have outdoor fire pits and the hotel accommodations were fabulous too! We were able to ski up to our back door and park by our front door in the standard King bed hotel room! Plus next to our door was a locked closet we were given the key to so we could safely store our ski equipment right outside our door! Check out was 11am and at 11:45 when we finally left; not one person had bothered us to get us moving that whole morning! The hot tub area was great and stayed open late. Plus, we were able to walk across the street to a bar/resturant that technically wasn't part of the resort so we saved money on the normally higher resort dining prices and it was still delicious!
