“Great weekend out east”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

My fiance and I recently stayed at By the Bluff B&B with my daughter and her husband. We were in the general area for a Ziggy Marley concert and decided to stay at the north fork's best rated Bed and Breakfast. What a beautiful location for a B&B! The water's edge is only a mere footsteps away and what a view once down there! The B&B was absolutely gorgeous inside and our rooms were immaculate and beautifully decorated! Sitting outside in the evening was delightful and private and the front porch so very inviting in the morning with a cup of coffee. The house was tastefully decorated and cozy that we felt right at home the very first moment we entered. The host and hostess were gracious and cheery upon our arrival. All and all a wonderful place to stay as it's close to many wonderful things to do! My only suggestion would be for the breakfast. As someone who prefers to be on a low carb diet, the breakfast really didn't offer any choices or options. The meal was beautifully prepared and served but I would have preferred to select a few things myself. French toast and potato pancakes are fabulous but not on a low carb diet. My daughter who absolutely dislikes fish was disappointed that her potato pancakes had sliced salmon on each. Maybe it's a gormet meal but not everyone cares for another's tastes. Our experiences with all other B&Bs we stay at are very different as far as breakfast goes. We were used to seeing more of a "spread" on the table, such as a bowl of hard cooked eggs, a basked of bagels, cheeses, bacon and sausages, muffins, etc. This way instead of being served a portioned meal selected by the chef, each guest is able to prepare their own plate as to their individual liking, and help themselves. Sadly for this reason alone, we will not be back to visit the B&B. But to anyone who enjoys a set breakfast then this beautiful place is for you! I still rate it as 4 Stars for it's appearance and comfort.

Location, location, location. We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at By the Bluff. Walked over to the beach for a picnic dinner. The inn has beach chairs you can use. The sunset at the bluff is so romantic. The room was so beautiful and the house smelled great. Loved the dogs. You go into the backyard the come to greet you. Breakfast was amazing and loved talking to the innkeepers. Can't wait to go back.

I almost cried when we were led into our suite, the attention to detail was perfect! Fresh flowers adorned the room, bedside chocolate, double doors onto a private veranda leading to lovely gardens. A claw footed tub equipped with candles, bath salts and a rack to hold a book and drink champagne while you unwind. A separate toliet and shower area equipped with a heated towel rack and huge rain shower attachment as well as thick and thirsty robes. Huge walk in closet for shoes as well as clothes with a built in ironing board and iron. Ipod station by the bed and huge flat screen tv, vaulted ceiling with a fan and double doors leading to the patio. Beside our room was a lovely living room, again vaulted ceiling with fan and fireplace, loads of reading material.
As an artist and a women I appreciated the decor. It was so well thought out, relaxing yet visually stimulating. Guys, if you want to wow your women I recommend this one!
More than the material elements was the flow of good energy. Patricia is genuine and exudes such great energy, you'll get swept into her infectious laugh. Maurice made us a lovely breakfast of strawberry french toast with ham and eggs, yum! After settling in we walked down the street to the beach where my boyfriend proposed to me!
My boyfriends favorite part of the Inn was the bonus of their two gentle giants, their St Bernard dogs! Very special place, very special people. We will definately be back!

Room Tip: The suite was so sweet! From bedside chocolate, to claw tub bath with bubble bath, private veranda

Excuse us for gushing, but spending a night at By The Bluff on Long Island's North Fork was amazing, Patricia and Maurice greeted and treated us like long-lost family members. Our room was fantastic—beautiful and comfortable. We were served a breakfast fit for royalty. Our hosts provided excellent advice about nearby restaurants and wineries, as well as discount cards. Of course, we will return and recommend.

Room Tip: Ground floor room is most spacious.

We recently stayed at By the Bluff upon the generous kindness of the Proprietors, Patricia and Maurice. By the Bluff is an exquisite, warm and impecable Inn. The home is elegantly decorated and makes guests feel peaceful and utterly comfortable. The gourmet breakast was absoultely delecatable! If you would like a truly memorable experience where memories are made, By the Bluff is the place to stay. Maurice and Patricia are giving, lovely Innkeepers and are very appreciative of the men and women who serve/have served our country.

Room Tip: You will love Daisy and Duffy also!

First of all, the location of the house is sweet, less than a quarter of a mile from the bluff, where view is just beautiful on a sunny day, and then at the end of the street there are two lavender farms if you will go in the summer.

This nice house sticks out among its neighbors, bigger and nicer, carrying a warm homelike tone in design. The host from Irland built it himself which is unbelievable. The inside is warmly decorated, Cape Cod style, as one can easily tell the hosts put so much effort into making a home. It looks nothing like a hotel. Everywhere you go you see plenty of cute little things and quotes which tell you more about this family.

We spent a night at the master's suite, which is colonial/southern french style suite, where you will find the bathroom the highlight of your experience. Plenty of clean towels and comfortable pajamas for you and your partner, separate sinks for a male and a female. You can take a shower in the shower room and then enjoy a fancy bubble bath under candle light, and do all these while sipping champagne and listening to music if you like. The bed is huge and comfortable. Quality comforter and blanket. After a good night's rest, you will wake up in the shower of the sunlight from the porch. You can open slidedoors in and enter the garden from your bedroom. Then, you can go to the dining room to enjoy a decent continental style breakfast made by the host himself. There is also a nice big painting in the background which makes eating there even nicer, at least to me.

The hostress is the most friendly, and they have two lovely Saint Bernards Duffy and Daisy.

The only improvement I can think of is the garden. Id love to see some nice plants/flowers the next time I go. It seems like setting up a nice house like this is the interest and expertise of the host and what he does the best.

THIS IS DEFINITELY A PLACE TO WHICH I WILL RETURN AND REFER ALL MY FRIENDS FAMILY. SIMPLY THE BEST.

Room Tip: The Annie Kate's suite is the best, but the other two rooms upstairs are also nice, for example...
