“Not worth the money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

It used to be good. Now the portions are small and nothing special. Tried the Caesar Salad - just romaine, dressing and some shaved Parmesan. Paid extra to have 4 shrimp added. For $20? A joke...and while the service was attentive, the white wine glass was served 1/2 full (not how you pour white wine.

“Good value in East Hampton and very courteous service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2011

Good value, good food, large portions. I had a burger, one daughter had quesadilla and another had a pannini which she described as delicious. We were asked Andes times if everything was ok

“OYSTERS, OYSTERS, OYSTERS!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2011

This little unassuming bistro is quaint and cozy, but big on quality, value and taste. We are oyster freaks, and simply put, there are none better in the Hamptons, any way you get them. Their fried oysters are big, plump, crispy outside, and super fresh. Any of Nichols seafood is simply and superbly prepared, amply portioned, and reasonably priced. The crab cake sliders, lobster roll on soft brioche roll, seafood pasta and original salads (the baby spinach with beets, blue cheese and walnuts is a must), huge burgers, ribs, and fish and chips are all first rate. Nichols proves every time that one can have a superb meal in the Hamptons without the ridiculous cost....and attitude.

“Beachy and inviting and fresh, good pub / seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2011

I almost didn't visit Nichol's based on some of the reviews listed here and from what some of the locals / my co-workers reported due to a recent ownership change. My cousin wanted fish and chips for her birthday dinner and after researching the area, found Nichols to have it on the menu. Upon entering Nichols, you walk through a breezy "secret garden" type stepping stone walkway to a small but cozy and inviting dining area with an attached bar on the other side of the restaurant. There is also an outside area with tables if you prefer to dine al fresco. It is located directly on Montauk Highway, but you do not feel like you are on the Highway nor do you hear any traffic.

Upon my arrival, I was greeted warmly by a server and I explained that there was a birthday in my party and requested for a dessert with a candle and a possible "Happy Birthday" song - he informed me that it was "no problem". He let our waitress know and she winked and said she would take care of it right after our meal.

We ordered Caesar salad & fried oysters for our appetizer. Both were delicious. The fish and chips turned out to be a wonderful hit! Light crispy beer batter with flaky fresh cod inside - yummy! The fisherman's platter and the burger sliders (4 in an order!) were also excellent choices. But, the real winner here was the Bouillabaisse. So good in fact, the person in my party that ordered it actually had the broth wrapped up to go so she could make another meal out of it!

Finally, our waitress came out with a slice of Tiramisu with a candle and promptly sang "Happy Birthday" with 2 other servers - perfect! The Tiramisu was creamy and delicious with hints of coffee and cream!

All in all a fun night was to be had by all and we enjoyed our experience and all of our food at Nichol's!

“boring overpriced restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2011

clean, cozy restaurant... but way overpriced for this dull pub fare...pedestrian burgers and a shepherds pie that's a must miss!! Went there with large party on a sunday afternoon and nothing was worth noting...12 tiny overcooked wings for about $12..beef natchos with no beef just a smattering of cheese and beans. Ok for a drink..but if you're hungry keep driving.
