“Great food but....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2008

while eating my meal i noticed a roach or bug was crawling on the floor in the kitchen area where you first walk in. I did not tell the waitress at first that would ruin the meal but as i left i let them know. The food is very well prepared but the prices are outrageous for brunch.

“Welcoming and Best Meal in Town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2008

Having been to New York City many times to visit my niece, we decided to take a trip out of NYC for a change. Being the only Asians in miles, we were already feeling conspicuous. East Hampton certainly doesn't make any effort to make an outsider feel welcomed, starting from the absence of the Chamber of Commerce, which the map claims to exist. After over an hour of wandering aimlessly without a map (it was hours later when we finally found a map), we walked into the most promising-looking eatery -- not too formal, not too informal. As the restaurant was packed and there was a party standing right inside the doorway, we stood outside waiting for the space to clear up for us to walk in. The hostess saw us, opened the plastic curtain for us to enter, and took my name and headcount... all, with a warm smile. That was the first (and only) welcome we felt in East Hampton. The menu was so interesting, we had a tough time deciding what to order. We wanted to try everything! When the food finally arrived, the first bite was sheer heaven. Everything on our plates was well thought of and tasted excellent. I can't think of a single thing that can make our dishes taste better. We looked around at the variety of foods being ordered (by the regulars it seems) and concluded that we could have picked anything from the menu and it would have tasted outstanding. I will go back to East Hampton ONLY for Babette's.

“Great veggie place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2008

Went here a couple of times when I was staying in East Hampton. I am a vegetarian and try to eat very healthy...so eating out on vacation can often be a chore. Really liked the soups, veggie burger, and the breakfast here. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and un-pretentious (always a plus!). They also have a great juice and smoothie bar. Definitely will be back this summer!
