“Good Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2008

My sister and I stayed one night at the property. We arrived from the airport at 12:45 and were allowed to check in early, which was a pleasant surprise since we expected to have to wait until 2:30 or 3:00. Our room contained two double beds and was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the Bath & Body Works shampoo, conditioner, and lotion since we love that brand. The front desk staff was efficient and helpful. The concierge was very knowledgeable about the city and gave us what turned out to be sound advice on how to get around. The breakfast buffet was included in our package, so the next morning, we were in no rush to get down to breakfast. We had plenty of time since breakfast was spread out over a few hours. The buffet was nicely varied and a chef was onsite to prepare fresh omelets and waffles. The dining room staff was quite friendly and courteous. Even though we stated only one night, we had an enjoyable time and would stay at this property again.

Decent hotel, can't really say much about the price since it was a business trip, but the hotel is very clean, very comfortable, and pretty much what you'd expect from a Marriott. There's a small Deli nearby, and a small grocery store a block or two away, but you'll probably need to order room service or get a cab somewhere. Friendly staff, quiet rooms, fairly close to the airport. There's a shuttle to the terminal every 15 to 20 minutes, which is somewhat convenient. Overall a nice hotel.

What was not so pleasant was the reason - an early evening flight cancellation that forced a number of passengers on various airlines to scramble for hotel rooms. I knew what the going rate was before calling and was happy that they did not jack up the price and extort us unfortunate stranded travellers.

Very new, modern, classy rooms. Nice beds, great flat screen TV, ideal location. The bathroom was small but well-equipped. I always wish there were a fridge in any hotel room, but this lack is standard in this class of hotel. I also found the room stuffy, even with the a/c turned as low as it could go.

What I was most impressed with was the friendliness of the staff. After coming from Manhattan and the shuttle ride from hell with an angry driving screaming at his daughter on the phone while coming within an inch of hitting pedestrians and careening off the freeway (not simultaneously, thank God), it was a breath of fresh air to encounter the cheerful hotel shuttle driver, the helpful front desk staff, and the accommodating security person.

I'm not sure why or if one would stay here for a leisure trip, but if you need a hotel in this area, the Marriott is on top of its game.

I highly recommend the LaGuardia Marriott in NYC.

I travel weekly and have come to enjoy my stays at this Marriott in New York City. I have been to NYC over 30 times and when I go to New York I choose to stay at LaGuardia Marriott for these reasons:

1) Great Staff - friendly and personable. Always willing to help out with my travel needs.
2) Great Value - not nearly as expensive as Manhattan but close to it all. I can take a car into NYC or explore the great ethnic restaurants in and around Queens ( from Greek food, to Indian food, to Argentinian Steakhouses ). In spring or summer it's nice to drive out to Long Island or the US Open Tennis matches.
3) Rooms are great - newly upgraded with High Definition TV's, great bathrooms and a comfortable bed for a great nights sleep.
4) Food is good from lunch in restaurant to sports bar in evening.

I love the pace of NYC but at night it's great to take a cab out of the city to the hotel - knowing I'm less than 5 minutes to LGA in the morning or under 25 to JFK depending on traffic.

Also very convenient for driving into the city - they have a parking lot on site for $22 overnight if you rent a car.

Hope this helps

Due to an early flight from LGA, I checked into the Marriott for a quick overnight.

The shuttle was quick to arrive to pick me up after a call to the front-desk. The check-in was quick but not too warm. My king room was spacious with a comfortable king bed, a reading chair and ottoman. The room was complete with the work desk and a flat-screen LCD. The room is well-shielded from the noise and although there are some leaks, they were not troublesome. The bathroom amenities are good and well stocked.

I ordered a pizza from the kitchen and it was a mistake, it was not very good but I should know better.

This was a very nice hotel. we traveled 2 weeks through USA and this was the best hotel we stayed. The rooms are newly renovated with beds the just let you fall asleep as soon as you lay in them. the staff was very nice and helpful and the breakfast was the best we had this holiday.

Stayed here because the price was right and it was convenient to LGA. We were interested in visiting Manhattan but those prices are scary. The hotel is awesome! All the staff says hello and asks how your stay is going ALL the time. It has a convenient shop downstairs for items that are forgotten from home and a bunch of goodies (drinks and candy). The restaurant has a really great Lobster bisque. It's a little pricey for me....but I'm very frugal (ie. Panini w/ chips 14$).
Rooms are all pretty and comfortable. Ours had a flat screen large tv and a great view to the airport (can't hear a thing outside). Bathrooms are clean and trendy. My advice is to get a room on the high floors so you get a nice view. The shuttle was GREAT, but we walked from the airport to the hotel (about 10 min walk) after we got off the bus from the city.

Let me give you some advice on how to get to and from the city intact. There are 2 ways I would recommend and they will both take about 1 hour.
1. Take the shuttle to the airport, then the M60 to the Astoria Blvd train stop (N). Take the N into the city (get a map of the subway)
2. Take the shuttle to the airport, then take the M60 to the city. Get off on Cathedral train stop (1). Take the #1 train into the city.

***Do not take the Q48 to the 111th train stop. I didn't feel safe in the area and it's very dirty***

The return trip is just the opposite.

Both areas to wait around for the bus/subway are safe. We stayed there for 5 days so we bought the 7 day unlimited metro pass which gave us access to all buses and subways by flipping out a card.
