“If you have to stay in Queens....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

We stayed at this Marriott for 3 days while being displaced from our home. There is nothing special about this property and its just a basic 3 star Marriott. That said, there aren't really any better choices in Queens, unless you try one of the new hotels in Long Island City, like the Z hotel.

The rooms are clean but worn. The common areas are really worn. The rates charged by this hotel are more expensive than 3 star hotels in Manhattan so you're not getting a bargain by staying here. Food is average too. Most of the staff is friendly although a few are aloof and may have missed the basic hospitality training Marriott provides.

I would only stay here if you really have to.

My 7 year old daughter and I got stranded at LaGuardia as we missed a late night connection on our way home on the night of her birthday. Most of the hotels near the airport were full, but the Marriott had availability, and we reserved a room.

We arrived exhausted, and the manager, Jeff, checked us in. He asked my daughter how old she was, and she smiled and replied, "I am 7 today!" Jeff quietly asked me if they could send up a birthday treat from the kitchen, and I told him that would be marvelous.

We were getting ready for bed when the kitchen staff brought up a nice ice cream brownie sunday for her birthday dessert. There was also a card that was signed by the entire night staff at the hotel wishing my daughter a happy birthday. She was grinning ear to ear as this kind gesture turned a hectic and frustrating end to her birthday into a marvelous evening and memory. We shared her birthday treat and watched the Olympics - a happy end to our rought day of traveling.

The service was top notch, and the accomodations were perfect. The shuttle got us back to the airport easily the next mornig and we made our flight home without any further difficultly.

Thanks to the Marriott staff for their thoughtfulness and kindness!

Needing last minute accommodations for an emergency trip, we found this facility to be a convenient, comfortable and intelligent experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room met our standards of cleanliness and appointments, and the AAA rate discount was competitive. The Sunday morning breakfast buffet had a good variety and, although more expensive than what was available in Manhattan, served our needs. After paying a substantial premium for our first trip to the city in a limo, we thereafter took the shuttle to the airport to use taxis.

Not a new property but well-maintained with comfortable rooms. The beds were comfortable, everything neat and clean. The shuttle to/from the airport worked very well for us. We seldom visit NY so we are not accustomed to the prices. Even though we travel extensively, the room rates and bar charges left us feeling as if we'd been on a Parisian holiday!

The hotel was a typical Marriott, the was upon request so im glad i called when i laned to find out how often they run. The staff was friendly the room was nice. But when i got in the shower i noticed a used soap bar in the dish. I bring my own soaps & assumed the aid just missed it. I then noticed another used soap bar by the sink.hmm noticed the toiletries were not replaced. I then went through the whole room, everything else seemed fine? I will now for the est of my life look at the soap dishes! Lol..other than that i would give this hotel a second chance:)

Room Tip: As of aug. 2012 they are working on the road, jackhammers, so get room away from street.

We received excellent service , so some amenities were due to Gold status with Marriott Rewards. (ex: free internet, printing, free breakfast M-F concierge floor)The shuttle was FREE, fast and convenient for the airport. Our room was quiet and comfortable with temperature and beds.(not a lot of extra room but we were mostly out for baseball game and sight seeing so adequate). The breakfast buffet at the restaurant was pricey but it was excellent and convenient so we ate a big breakfast and it would last us until dinner. They were very helpful with directions to bus/train, ordering pizza delivery late Saturday and stored our luggage for us after checkout Sunday morning until we came back at 9pm and took shuttle for our flight home back to airport.

I stayed at the Laguardia Marriott this weekend for a conference. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful and attentive. The air conditioning in my room was stock on "frigid" and the conference room was like a meat locker. Other than that my stay was enjoyable. There is a coffee shop that offers breakfast and lunch but the Empire Restaurant, is really just the bar with a limited, though satisfying menu. The hotel only carries Pepsi products, even in the vending machines. That made this Coke Zero drinker unhappy. I also found the hotel shuttle from the airport to be fast and efficient.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room next to the vending area. Mine was and it was a bit noisy.
