It's a trip back in time; when you had nothing to worry about but which bathing suit was dry. We stayed in the main lodge as we booked late and all cabins were sold out. Being we could only stay for two nights, it was the best location for us anyway. Our group consisted of 4 women ages 40-60, no kids (on the trip with us). We read our books in comfy lounge chairs along the waters edge, and watched the children learn how to water-ski. The next day we rented a pontoon boat for the afternoon and drove all around the lake taking in the gorgeous scenery, and beautiful homes and boathouses. As we came into dock that evening, we stopped and watched a pair of loons, and then listened to them all night from our rooms.
We had brought minimal food as we drove in from Chicago, so had little space in our car. There were restaurants available, in the little town nearby (Can't recall the name..) but Covewood is missing some opportunity in selling easy, snack items. Once a week (Tues, maybe?) they cook homemade doughnuts, which were absolutely divine.
I would highly recommend for families and extended families. Every child there was on cloud nine, activities galore. And it was fun to simply watch them create and play in the field.
A place like no other. Leave your cell phone, laptop, and PSP at home, and rekindle your love for the outdoors.
