I recently stayed at the Sunrise Landing B&B with my husband to celebrate our four year wedding anniversary. We took a road trip from our home in Brooklyn, NY to the Finger Lakes (about a 5 hour drive). We stayed in the Sunflower Apartment Suite.
The house is located about a 1/4 mile off the main road, down a winding dirt road. We had no problem driving it with our 1996 rear-wheel drive Volvo sedan. The dirt road winds down through pretty trees and foliage, picturesque in the fall! The house is very nice and well kept.
The Sunflower Apartment Suite is located on the lower level of the home and has two entrances, one from the main house and another from the outside patio. It includes a full kitchen (electric stove top, oven, microwave oven, refrigerator, and full selection of dishes, post, pans and utensils. The living area has a pull-out sofa and a remote-controlled fireplace that looks like a small wood stove - a very nice touch! The bathroom was a bit small but spotless. Both the kitchen/dinning and living room areas look out on the lake with floor to ceiling windows that span the entire length of the rooms.
The patio door leads out to a wooden stairway that takes you down to the lake where there's a very nice dock area with chairs. They also offer plenty of water gear (canoes, etc.).
The two-course breakfasts were scrumptious! The first morning they served us a warm pear as an appetizer followed by a cheese quiche served with potatoes and sausage links. Also on the table were several slices of a homemade coffee cake. On the second morning they served a fruit and yogurt cup as an appetizer followed by a caramel apple glazed french toast served with bacon. Also on the table were homemade scones. The portions were large and satisfying. For anything you couldn't finish they offered a to-go bag.
The owners, Barbara and Bob, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. It's clear that they love where they live and what they do and are eager to share their passion with their guests. They even printed a photo of us at the house to take home with us. We very much look forward to making the Sunrise Landing B&B our home away from home.
The Sunflower Apartment Suite is large and has great views of the lake.
