“Great food, good service, worth a try if you are in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

I am a seasoned traveler not from the area and was having dinner with a large party at this restaurant. The food was amazing across the board. I had a veal dish that I have to say "was absolutely excellent"! Also, great value! I am very particular about my recommendations...this is a good one! Enjoy!

“Very good local Restaurant.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We eat here often. Great local restaurant with wonderfully warm host, interesting but sometimes limited menu. Wine list is satisfactory. Intimate environment . There is always a choice of fish, veal ,vegetable or meat or poultry .

“Don't judge a Cafe by it's cover!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

From the outside, 333 Cafe does not look like anything special. Even the name may lead you think that it is simply a storefront where you can get a cup of coffee. Quite the contrary! The atmosphere inside gives you a feeling of intimacy, with the wine bottles stored on shelves around the walls with other nick-knacks, books, etc.

Checking their website, we were fully aware that they were paying tribute to Oktoberfest by adding a number of German dishes to their menu through the end of the month. We started with a bowl of Apple and Beet Soup ($6) - a combination of Early Beet and Sweet Tart apples from the local Indian Ladder Farms orchard. It is served cold and somehow they manage to puree the beets so well that if you were to close your eyes, only the sweet flavor of beets would allow you to know what you were eating. The pureed apples appeared to be suspended within the beets allowing you to blend the two flavors, or not.

Potato Pancakes ($11) as an appetizer were three thick and delicious pancakes served with house made apple butter and sour cream. These may have been better than my Mom used to make. To complete my tribute to Oktoberfest, I ordered the Bauernschmaus ($28) - loosely translated, "a farmer's feast." It was a sampler plate of schnitzel, wurst, sauerbraten, and German potato salad. It was and excellent and HUGE portion. The breaded pork cutlet (schnitzel) was served with mushrooms, chopped tomato, and a tarragon brown sauce. The flavors blended wonderfully with the tender cutlet. The beef pot-roast (sauerbraten) was several slices of very tender meat spiced with ginger and piled on top of some red cabbage. Two different wurst were provided, bratwurst, and weiss wurst, both nicely grilled with a bit of char to parts of the outer casing. At least half of this meal needed to be brought home and it was thoroughly enjoyed the next day.

My wife's entry of Schweinhachsen ($28) was a very large pork shank braised in white wine, with leeks, vegetables, and served on a bed of spatzel. The pork was tender and flavorful and the spatzel was relatively light in texture. A very tasty, well executed dish. Along with our meals we also had a bottle of Hogue Genesis Merlot ($30) that held up well throughout the meal. We finished our meal with coffee ($2) and Peanut Butter Mousse Pie with Chocolate Fudge ($6). The coffee was ok but the PBM pie was rich, creamy and delicious.

Service was mostly provided by a single waitress, but a second one also kept an eye on us to make sure we didn't want for anything. This is a lovely restaurant with great atmosphere and very talented kitchen staff. We look forward to returning.

“Excellent food and intimate atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

We had driven by Cafe 333 countless times and finally went in to have dinner this weekend. What a joy! The service was excellent, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was so intimate. We had a great time. Great wine list, exciting/different foods- it was a great choice for us for dinner!

“A little disappointed.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

So many people rave about this place, I suppose my expectations were too high. The service was very good, the appetizers are priced well but the entrees are a little high. The food was good, but surprisingly boring. I suppose it depends on your palette and preferences. The sauces were too simple and lacked complexion. On paper, the combinations sounded so appealing but the delivery was lacking that little extra something to make them higher-end restaurant quality.
