“Fun time for the whole family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

This was our second trip to stay in the campground and visit the park, and our second time having a great experience. We rented one of the RVs to stay in and no major complaints. They are older and starting to show wear, but we had no issues with the cleanliness or maintenance. It looks like some renovations to the washrooms have been done since the last time we stayed, very nice new showers which was appreciated. We will definately be staying again as we had a wonderful time at the theme park and doing the camping experience. Only complaint would be the amount of items that you have to bring with you to camp, would be nice if some amenities were provided in the trailer (toaster, coffee maker, etc).

My girl friend and I went with my parents to Darien Lake for two nights at the start of August. My parents have a trailer so we rented a camp site and were on our way.

Darien Lake access from Canada is great, it is nice and easy to find. Access in to and around the camp ground is easy (30 foot trailer) and the sites give room to back your trailer in.

The camp sites arent bad, some are better than others. You get a big lot and some privacy, hyrdo/water and waste hook up. Dont forget the fire pit!

The washrooms were just OK. Not good, not bad, but bearable. Go to the washrooms closer to the cabins.

The distance from my door step to the amusement park was only a short walk away. We will say 3-5 minutes. We were such a short distance away that we would come and go mutiple times during the day and night.

Room Tip: You can walk into the park with your own drinks

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel with 2 beds. We really no problems with the room. The front desk was friendly and the crib we requested was brought up fast and it was a full size one, not those pack and plays types. The only problem with the hotel was the sub sandwich my wife bought at the lobby stand was "frozen". The ham sub had frozen ham and veggies. My wife returned to the lobby after coming up to the room and requested another. Problem was it was late in the evening and nothing else was brought out. My wife ended up with just a ham sandwich. Nothing was subsidized. Another thing I found interesting was that they didn't have a safe in the room but you can get a safety deposit box at the lobby. There is only a limited number of them. The hotel has a nice looking pool with a life guard and you can only use the pool when there is a guard there. We did not use the pool as we used the waterpark. Only other comments was that the hotel could used better signage for the hotel and definitely bring a stroller with your young ones as its a long walk to the theme park for them. There is a dorm like fridge in the room and there is a floor centralized microwave to use.

We just got back from our third year at DL. It has improved tremendously from the first visit when it was a little shady. They've put a lot of work into the landscaping, installed proper safety signs and measuring posts at all the rides, and the ride attendants are super friendly and much more safety oriented than ever before. While not as large or amazing as some big parks like Canada's Wonderland, it still delivers the big ticket roller coasters and rides, a great kids section, a large water park, and the on site camping can't be beat. All that, and with virtually no lines, even in the height of summer. We love the freedom to walk back to the camp site for lunch or dinner and then head back to the rides or water park. We also love the nightly Ignite the Night show with lasers and fireworks. It makes it so much more relaxing than rushing through the big parks trying to get on everything in one day. We've done the cabins twice, which are great, but the trailer last year was pretty gross. Also, the public bathrooms are pretty decent in the park, except the one in Rowdy's Ridge, near the Viper exit, which is beyond nasty. Overall, great place, and getting better by the looks of things!

Room Tip: Stay away from the rental RV's - nasty! Cabins are much better and well equipped.

Stayed in the RV rentals (2nd time) for 3 nights. Trailer was dirty. Camp site was dirty, and beer cans through out. Trailer leaked water during rain storm. Waaay overpriced for what you get. You must supply all dishes, pans, utensils, bedding etc. Bring lots of wipes and Lysol. The cleaning crew was observed entering a vacated trailer next door, left the trailer in 7.03 seconds (yes we timed them). How clean was that?? Staff was uh....let's say not very educated on the operation of the facility. The amusement park was clean. Again, overpriced for concessions and many rides you have to pay extra for (not included in admission). Darien thinks it is Disney, but in reality is that it is more like a weekend Carnival in town. If you do attend a concert there, bring a full wallet as well. I really have to think twice about going back again.

We stayed in the Darien lake Guest house the week after the 4 of July weekend. The guest house is a double wide trailer with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, dining room, washer and dryer and a small kitchen. The guest house was very clean and had almost everything you need. The only things you need to bring is firewood, food, dish soap, soap for your cloths, trash bags, and personal stuff. The park had all the rides going and there were like not lines for anyone of them the park was well kept up. We did not go to the water park. The campground and cabins were just a walk from the park

We stayed in a lakeside cabin (#11). It was clean and not too far from the park (7 min walk). Only complaint would be that the mattresses in the cabin made for a very sore back. Bring foam to sleep on so you don't feel the springs. Get to the water park early to get a lounge chair. People hog them for the whole day and there isn't enough of them. Line ups were pretty non existent for most child's rides
