“Great "staycation"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2008

Our family of 4 stayed this weekend at the Lodge on the Lake Hotel to take part in their FrightFest event.. we had a great time! We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the toasty warm fireplace in the lobby area, free hot starbucks coffee each morning, and down-home breakfasts at nearby Linda's Diner.

The 4 of us had a very nice lunch at the park's Beaver Brothers Restaurant, which the kids really enjoyed for its disney-esque decorations... and the food was very good.

I would recommend the convenience of staying at this property because we were able to walk in to the park each day, vs. having to get into a car and drive.

My husband and I took our 3 boys ages 11, 7 and 5. We stayed at the hotel and it was an AWESOME experience!!! Very friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. The price was just right for what we wanted to do and stay at. Two nights $310.00 for 5 people and 3 days admission to the theme park. The walk to the park was only 2 minutes. Perfect for family with children or just a couple!!!

my dh and i went to the lodge at Darien lake for fright fest this weekend oct.17-19,2008.
they were having special halloween spooktacular-it is also the last weekend the park is open for the season.
booked online one room 2nights 260.00 $that included the park from friday check in until 8pm on sunday.
we arrived around 7:30pm-check in was a breeze! got room 309 -we thought the room was large and clean -two double beds, sofa bed ,good sized dorm fridge,tv.plenty of room for a family of 4.
plenty of towels -every thing clean but really just and average hotel/motel room. small bathroom.
room is pretty quiet as it is at the end of the hall-off the beaten path!
uneventful stay-didn't get housekeeping because they came at 4pm on sat and we had just come back to rest-so they took our towels and emptied the trash and gave us some cups and they were off.
check out info under the door on sunday morn-good deal with a 3 pm check out on Sunday!!
all in all the lodge was fine for us-i think it is over priced but we still had fun.

We had wonderful time at Darien Lake. The Lodge was great, very clean with 2 queen beds, pull out sofa and refridgerator. The theme park was great. Wonderful water slides, great rides, no line ups. Way better then Canada's Wonderland.

My boyfriend, his 4-year old daughter and myself stayed at the lodge for one Saturday night in June 2008. I chose the hotel solely for the proximity to the park. The one (and I stress ONE) benefit was that admission to the park was free for both our arrival and departure day, basically any day you stay at the hotel. But I would NEVER stay there again. First, the website could use a little help, there was little info offered online in regards to the accommodations. Second, if you happen to be there on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night, be prepared for wall-shaking fireworks around 10-10:30 PM and don't expect your kids to sleep through them. Third, rooms were clean, but don't expect any amenities other than what you would find in a one star hotel - don't let the price fool you! (There are only seven...mainly local channels, thank god one of them was Cartoon Network! no movies, shampoo and body wash are one in the same and come out of a public restroom-like dispenser, no continental breakfast, just free coffee....and the list goes on). And the walls are thin, we could hear people at the pool, the ice machine, kids running down the halls....

I guess, overall, I would say...simply not worth the money, unless you're looking to just throw your cash away.

We went on a Monday stayed until Thursday.
Great time........service was excellent.
They have a wonderful pool. They had free coffee in the morning.....with 'fake' creamers.....non-dairy....that could be desired. Anything else you had to buy.
Long walk from hotel to park.......after walking it the second day.....they could use a shuttle service...haha
Laser light show/fireworks.....amazing.........last years was better and it is the same everynight.
The restauraunts at the park.....much to be desired, and I am talking food wise.....the Beaver Lodge.....not so great food.......the italian restauraunt near the one water park...was much better.

I like the fact that pretty much every game the kids played.....they got something.
The line ups were very short.
The Circus was incredible.......you have to see it.

I found that most of the rides........the attendants seemed unhappy. Like we were bothering them. Could of been the fact that it was 90 degree weather all week.......I dunno.....

Overall though..........a little pricey.......I think at least a continental breakfast should be included.........but in saying that........I would go again.....the kids loved it.........and stay where you play....that is an added bonus. It is the second year for me........last year we stayed in the trailer. I enjoyed the hotel much more....but that is my preference.......the kids enjoyed it more too.

I recommend this place to families.......if you stay for 3 nights like we did.......the kids are ready to go home on the 4th day.......which is great.......
