“Great setting...great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

My husband and I stayed in a lake front room last weekend and it was a very pleasant experience. The room was huge and charming in a rustic way. Even though there was no air conditioning, there was a breeze from the large windows/door overlooking the lake and a ceiling fan, and despite the extremely hot weather sleeping was peaceful. The lodge is open for lunch and dinner and in addition to the dining room and bar there is an outdoor patio overlooking the lake. Food and drink were good and reasonable. There is a restaurant across the street so it was an easy walk for morning coffee. The staff was most pleasant at all times and the place was very busy. You can also rent boats/canoes for a very realistic price. For the price of a room, $100 per night, the easy access to a restaurant, and a terrific spot on the prettiest lake around Cranberry Lodge is a great deal.

Room Tip: definitely upgrade to the lakefront!

My last experience at the Lodge was about a year ago, I am for second chances and there is always room for improvement but this experience was yet again sub par to say the least. The food took over an hour and half to even reach us and when it did the food was cold and not our liking. The night was very docile. Several of the items on the menu were out of stock. The staff with the exception of a few lacked training to say the least. I was with a group of 6 and not one of us left satisfied. I do a substantial amount of business in the Adirondacks and my conclusion is that the service has been declining steadily for over a year. I will not be recommending this establishment to anyone. I would rather drive the extra few miles to another venue.

Room Tip: If you must stay, ask to be in a renovated room.

We had driven by this property many times and decided to try it and stay an evening. The rooms were recently renovated and were super clean, quaint and had great views of Cranberry Lake. It had a microwave, fridge, extra pillows and blankets and a very nice bathroom. The property has free WiFi; but, their is no cell service in this area.

There is a restaurant across the parking lot with a wonderful bar (Ashley the bartender is tremendous) with both sit down service as well as traditional pub grub. The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced.

This property is about an hour's drive from Lake Placid and we felt as though we were truly off the grid (and, you are) and had a relaxing getaway.

Well worth the drive !

We found the Cranberry Lake Lodge when on the route from Lake Placid to Watertown, NY, and it was a pleasant surprise. Rooms are recently remodeled. The bed in room 13 was a little hard, but not a problem.
If you don't need a lake view, you can save money, and the room is still comfortable and pleasant.
The restaurant and bar were hopping on the Saturday night we arrived, but the staff did their best to get everyone seated and ordered. Food was basic, hearty.
Tip for off-season: we didn't see a breakfast place open in town, so make sure you already have something to eat in your room or be prepared for a drive.

This is our favorite place to stay in the winter! We usually come here once a year to snowmobile. Most of the time there is snow but, even if there isn't any, we still have a great time. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and efficient. The "apartment" room is just right for everyone to gather, visit, eat, play games, etc. We also like the restaurant & bar, usually have good food & service. Only bad things are low quality towels & toilet paper, no paper towels/plates in kitchen, bathroom is not super clean (my pet peeve), and they need fans in the bathrooms. Otherwise, I would recommend it.

Happened across Cranberry Lake Lodge on our drive through the area towards Vermont.

For $67.00 including tax, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was 'log cabin-ish' - it was clean and tidy. Had a microwave and fridge too as well as free wifi. (no mobile reception though).

Comfy bed, quiet area. Having read the reviews about the Manager, we found her to be okay. Not the friendliest, but she answered our questions.

Got a takeaway from the restaurant/bar next door. It was average (parmesan chicken pasta and a seafood pasta).

Overall this is as good a place as any to stop for a night or two. Its right on the lake and there is a boat hire place right there.

If I was back in the area, I'd stay here again.

My husband and I were on to our way to Main and needed a place to stay on the way. I am so glad I checked Trip advisor for a hotel and found this place! We had a room on the bottom floor with a view of the lake. It doesn't look like much from the outside but when you go in to your room you would think you were in a log cabin! It was beautiful, clean and the people were very friendly. The night with tax was only $99.00 unreal! The Restaurant/Bar is just across the parking lot. We both ordered the broiled haddock and it was fabulous! We will be going back.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view!
